Humanities Department Chair & Teacher (Upper School: 7th-12th grades)
Opportunity for Leadership and Administration

The Classical School of Dallas is seeking a Humanities Department Chair and Teacher to join our Upper School faculty. This position offers a unique opportunity for an experienced educator to teach in the Humanities while also contributing to Upper School leadership and the administrative life of the school.

Position Overview

The Humanities Chair & Teacher will teach Upper School Humanities courses and help steward the vision, coherence, and excellence of our Humanities program. The role may be structured as part-time or full-time, depending on the candidate’s experience, availability, and interest in leadership responsibilities.

Leadership Opportunities

  • Initially serve as Chair of the Humanities Department with opportunity for higher leadership in future years
  • Participate in Upper School leadership, vision casting and administrative planning
  • Mentor and collaborate with Humanities faculty
  • Contribute to curriculum development, scope and sequence, student discipleship and faculty formation

Teaching Responsibilities

  • Teach Upper School Humanities (history, literature, philosophy, theology in an integrated humanities core, and/or Latin)
  • Foster rich classroom discussion rooted in the classical tradition and Christian intellectual heritage
  • Cultivate habits of rich discussion with faculty and students and parents beyond the walls of the classroom

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience as a classroom teacher (required)
  • Master’s degree or higher in a relevant field (strongly preferred)
  • Foundational knowledge of Latin (strongly preferred)
  • Demonstrated administrative and planning skills
  • Deep alignment with classical, Christ-centered education
  • Ability to teach with intellectual rigor, warmth, and clarity
  • Capacity to collaborate, lead, and invest in the life of the school
