Position Overview:
Coram Deo School in Huntsville, Alabama, is seeking a Christ-loving, classically minded 1st Grade teacher to join the founding faculty of our startup classical Christian school. The ideal candidate will combine joyful authority, pedagogical creativity, and a deep love for cultivating wisdom and virtue in young learners. As part of a startup school, this teacher will help lay foundational structures and traditions that will serve generations to come.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a structured, warm, and engaging 1st grade classroom grounded in biblical truth and classical pedagogy
- Guide students through early reading fluency, cursive writing, arithmetic, Bible, and introductory grammar using time-honored methods
- Cultivate habits of attention, respect, wonder, and self-discipline
- Integrate Scripture and a Christian worldview into every subject and classroom activity
- Foster strong relationships with students and their families, promoting unity between church, home, and school
- Collaborate with fellow teachers and leadership to develop a cohesive and flourishing school culture
- Participate in faculty prayer, training, and fellowship as a growing classical Christian educator
Qualifications:
- A mature and growing Christian faith marked by love for Christ and His church
Alignment with the school’s statement of faith and founding documents - Bachelor’s degree required (education or humanities focus preferred); teaching experience strongly valued
- Familiarity with or desire to be trained in classical education
- A love for children and a calling to disciple through education
- Ability to work flexibly and joyfully in a collaborative, startup environment
- Active membership in a local, Bible-believing church
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience teaching reading with phonics-based methods
- Familiarity with the Trivium and Christian classical literature
