Bible and History Teacher

Knight's Christian Academy

A Quest for Excellence

310 Douglas St., New Smyrna Beach, Florida 32168

Position Description

About the Position

Full-Time Humanities and Logic Instructor, Grades 7–8
Bible and History Instructor, Grades 4–6

Knight’s Christian Academy seeks a teacher who loves Christ, delights in learning, and desires to help students grow in wisdom, virtue, and a love for truth, goodness, and beauty. As a classical Christian school, we view teaching as both an academic calling and an opportunity to disciple young people, helping them understand God’s world and live faithfully within it.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in literature, history, and biblical studies; excellent oral and written communication skills; and the ability to guide students in careful reading, thoughtful discussion, and sound reasoning. We seek someone who appreciates the curiosity, energy, and challenges of the upper elementary and middle school years and approaches students with patience, warmth, and clear expectations.

At KCA, we desire classrooms marked by meaningful engagement, respectful conversation, diligent work, and joyful learning. Our teachers intentionally cultivate habits of attentiveness, responsibility, kindness, and stewardship. They build relationships that allow them to encourage and correct students with consistency, grace, and a desire for their growth in Christ.

Current courses include Omnibus I Primary and Secondary for grades 7–8. Together, these courses integrate history, theology, and literature, with a primary emphasis on the ancient world from Creation through the fall of Rome. The position also includes Logic instruction for grades 7–8 and Bible and History instruction for grades 4–6.

This is a full-time position, with approximately 3–5 instructional periods and 1–3 planning periods per day. The position may be divided into two part-time roles depending on candidates’ strengths and availability.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and teach engaging, well-organized lessons that reflect KCA’s classical Christian mission and established curriculum.
  • Help students make meaningful connections among Scripture, history, literature, and the ideas that shape human thought and culture.
  • Develop students’ abilities to read closely, communicate clearly, reason logically, and participate respectfully in discussion.
  • Maintain a classroom culture of warmth, order, and purposeful learning through clear expectations and consistent follow-through.
  • Guide students toward increasing responsibility for their work, conduct, materials, and shared learning spaces.
  • Assess student progress and provide timely, constructive feedback.
  • Follow school procedures consistently and communicate proactively with parents and administrators.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and the broader life of the school.

Desired Qualifications and Experience

  • A growing relationship with Jesus Christ and a desire to model Christian faith and character for students.
  • A strong foundation in humanities, particularly literature, history, theology, language arts, or logic.
  • An understanding of classical Christian education, or a willingness to learn and grow in its philosophy and practices.
  • Previous teaching experience or meaningful experience working with upper elementary or middle school students.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to lead thoughtful classroom discussions.
  • The ability to pair patient encouragement with firm, consistent classroom leadership.
  • The ability to support students with differing learning needs while maintaining meaningful academic expectations.
  • A teachable spirit, dependable work habits, and a willingness to contribute to a small, collaborative school community.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Agreement with KCA’s Statement of Faith and support for the school’s mission.
  • Willingness to fulfill applicable background screening and school employment requirements.
