Position Description

History

Since its beginning Classical School of Wichita (CSW) has experienced growth, but that growth has increased at a substantially higher rate in the past few years. Since I began working at CSW in 2014 (as Director of Operations at that time) the school has doubled in size. That growth has been in both the grammar and upper schools, but the upper school has experienced a remarkable rate of growth. In those 8 years, the high school alone has quadrupled in size! Last year, in order to meet the demands of operating a school of 390 students and almost 50 faculty & staff, CSW hired Mr. Ben Zickafoose as the Chief Operating Officer.

What’s Next?

Mr. Zickafoose was a true “God-send”, and I am so grateful for him and his work. Now it is time for us to make a hire to meet the academic demands of a school of our size. We have been operating with a Director of Academics role. At this time, we are looking to transition to a more robust Principal (or Deans) structure. To that end, I am officially beginning the search for a Grammar School Principal as well as an Upper School Principal. So effectively one current role will become two roles.

What Does that Mean?

The Principal roles will focus on ensuring that our faculty members are being supported and evaluated consistently according to the Mission & Vision of our school, the CSW Essential Expectations, and the CSW Characteristics of Professional Excellence. They will also oversee student life & discipline as well as curricular development. These roles will both be full-time roles, but may carry a teaching load or other administrative load along with them.

Who is CSW Looking For?

Our primary goal is to hire the right person, so I would encourage someone to apply even if there are some question marks about particulars in the job description. There may be some flexibility in roles depending on candidates. We will accept candidates who want to apply for only one of the positions as well as candidates who would be open to exploring either position. The Process

We will begin receiving applications immediately (Complete parts 1 & 2, see links below). After reviewing these documents, we will assess for the most qualified candidates and reach out to set up a time for a phone call. The next phase of candidates will do a Zoom call (or in person if local) with Mr. Ben Zickafoose and myself. The final candidates will be invited to Wichita to do an in-person interview.
