About us:

White Horse Academy (WHA) is Bloomington-Normal’s first and only Classical Christian school.  Our Mission is to glorify God by providing a Christ-centered and Classical education which equips students for lives of wisdom and virtue by teaching them to love what is True, Good, and Beautiful.

As a brand new start-up school, opening in August of 2024, we are looking for pioneer spirits who are willing and excited to partner with us as we establish an academic and spiritual oasis in the cornfields of Central Illinois. WHA may be starting small (approximately 20-25 students) in year one, but we have a vision to grow into a vibrant K-12 institution that is raising the next generation of Christian Leaders.

About the Job:

We seek to hire two Grammar school teachers for the 24/25 school year.  Due to the startup nature of WHA, we anticipate having smaller and combined grade classrooms initially; Non-readers(K-1), Early-readers(2-3) and hopefully an upper Grammar class (4-5).  Additionally, we will not initially have a Head of School, instead our Lead Teacher and Founding Board will act as the administrative leads until such a time when our enrollment numbers are sufficient to afford a qualified full-time Head.

Our school is unique in that it is as part time school, meeting Monday to Friday morning from 8 am to 12:30 pm. Consequentially, all of our teachers will be considered part time. We do offer half tuition discounts to our teacher’s children.

Responsibilities:

• Mentor students as they read and discuss the Classics alongside you
• Develop and implement educational plans and curriculum for students
• Model and teach students about Christ’s love for them and the Golden Rule
• Collaborate with other teachers, parents, and education administration to support student growth
• Inspire students to obtain self-mastery and build an intrinsic desire for self-education and governance.

Qualifications:

Requirements:

• Contagious love for the Classics and Great Books
• Professing Christian and active Church member (any denomination)
• Agree with our Statement of Faith
• Demonstrable passion for self-education
• Pioneer mindset that isn’t afraid of uncertainty, trying new ideas, and iterating to seek after a perfect standard that is unobtainable this side of paradise.

Experience:

• Previous educational/teaching experience (Elementary preferred)
• Classically Trained and Educated (preferred)
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Bachelor’s Degree (preferred)

 

Employment Classification:

10 Months, Part-Time, Exempt

Salary and Benefits:

• $20,000 over 10 months.
