Job Description
The goal of a classical educator is to instill a passion for learning in a child that will never cease to burn. Our teachers are not forming and shaping a person that can do something but rather a person that can be someone. We are training students for God’s calling on their lives, preparing them well through a Christ-centered classical education to fulfill their calling for the honor and glory of God. One of the most important components to successfully educating our students is the hiring of excellent and passionate teachers and staff members!

We are hiring a full-time Student Support Director to begin work in the 2025-26 school year. The Student Support Director is responsible for overseeing the Student Support program and managing other academic support personnel, under the supervision of the Associate Head of School (10-20 hours/week). Additionally, the Student Support Director will work directly with students (15-20 hours/week) with mild to moderate learning differences in acquiring the necessary skills to be independent learners in Stonehaven’s academically rigorous environment. In addition to providing small group, one-on-one, and in-class support, the Director will collaborate with general classroom teachers to provide guidance in supporting students and appropriately applying accommodations. To facilitate a team approach, the Director will effectively communicate with administration, faculty, and parents on students’ academic support needs. Additionally, the Director will assist in providing ongoing professional development to faculty on best practices for intervention and differentiated instruction Strategies.

  • Possesses strong organizational skills that can help organize and order the various activities and needs within the student support program
  • Demonstrates patience, compassion, and fortitude in their work

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee the school’s student support program and manage other student support personnel, under the supervision of the Associate Head of School
  • Assist in identifying students in need of support by using the student support referral process
  • Provide direct support to students as specified on their support plan (15-20 hours per week)
  • Manage each student’s case within the student support program
  • Plan and facilitate parent conferences for students in the program
  • Create student support plans that outline goals and services to meet student needs
  • Document meetings and follow up with parents, teachers, service providers, and other school personnel for implementation of student support plan
  • Serve as primary liaison with outside providers and area school districts for matters related to student evaluation and service delivery
  • Collaborate with faculty on appropriately supporting students with learning differences
  • Administer and interpret academic benchmark and progress monitoring assessments
  • Appropriately apply academic accommodations to ensure student growth and independence
  • Collect formal and informal data to create intervention plans and track student progress
  • Provide small group, one-on-one, and in-class support to students with learning differences
  • Plan and implement lessons for remediation of executive function challenges
  • Implement use of best practices for differentiated and multi-sensory intervention and instruction
  • Promote and teach self-awareness and appropriate self-advocacy skills
  • Participate in events, some occasionally after school, to promote a sense of community among parents of students with learning differences
  • Seek ongoing professional development in the area of academic support
  • Participate in faculty duties such as lunch, carpool, recess, and retreats
  • Strives to apply the philosophy and methods of classical Christian education in students through a distinctly Christ-centered classical approach to education
  • Demonstrate a biblical approach to work evidenced by punctuality, a cheerful and compliant attitude, attention to duties, appearance, etc., and follows the guidelines as set forth in the Staff Handbook

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have either relevant teaching or work experience in a related field. While experience with a Christ-centered classical school is desirable, all candidates who embrace our mission and vision are welcome to apply.   • Bachelor’s Degree from a reputable undergraduate institution
