Job Description: Teacher Duties

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Spiritual Leadership:

  • Consistently exhibit love, joy, peace, and spiritual maturity in their daily work and relationships with the school.
  • Motivates students to accept God’s gift of salvation and help them grow in their faith through their witness and Christian role modeling
  • Leads students to a realization of their self-worth in Christ
  • Follows the Matthew 18 principle in dealing with students, parents, and staff by treating others with friendliness, dignity, and consideration

Planning and Preparation:

  • Design lesson plans and assessments that reflect understanding of the content for the level of instruction that is appropriate for students.
  • Integrates biblical principles and the Christian philosophy of education throughout the curriculum and activities
  • Selects clear, appropriate instructional goals grounded in the curriculum guide.
  • Designs coherent learning units, lessons, and activities for students using a variety of instructional strategies
  • Plans broadly using semester and quarterly plans and objectives, and more currently with a lesson plan book

Classroom Environment:

  • Establish a comfortable and respectful classroom environment, which cultivates a culture for learning and creates a safe place for risk-taking, while managing routines and procedures efficiently and setting a tone that is cooperative and non-disruptive.
  • Creates an environment of respect and rapport
  • Establishing a culture for learning
  • Manages classroom procedures, so that instructional time is maximized
  • Effectively manages student behavior with clear expectations and consequences
  • Organizes physical classroom space for optimal learning

Professional Responsibilities:

  • Carry out the duties of the teaching profession outside the classroom.
  • Maintains accurate records
  • Build positive relationships with parents, maintaining communication with the child’s home
  • Maintains positive relationships with colleagues and contributes to the overall success of the school and the system
  • Grows and develops professionally
  • Show professionalism; maintain confidentiality
  • Is positive about the school in arenas outside of the school
  • Maintains professional relations with other colleagues

Supplemental Functions:

  • Supervises extracurricular activities, organizations, and outings assigned
  • Provide input/constructive recommendations for administration/management
  • Support the broader program of the school by attending extracurricular activities, when possible
  • Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the administration

MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university
  • Administration, planning, and organization skills
  • Familiar with computers and Microsoft Word. Excel. and web browsers
  • Verbal and written communications skills, interpretive skills, and reasoning skills
  • Ability to concentrate on tasks, understand verbal and written instructions, analyze, differentiate, memorize, read, coordinate, maintain emotional control, and instruct.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Lift and carry up to 15 pounds
  • Stooping, walking, climbing, balancing. kneeling, reaching. hearing, speech, and visual activity.
