The JECA Head of Grammar School provides academic, spiritual, and cultural leadership to faculty, students, and parents in the Grammar School. The Grammar School Head ensures the academic program’s alignment with JECA’s mission and vision to offer a robust and joyful classical and Christian education. He/She nurtures a warm and orderly culture where delight and diligence cohabit with the gospel message. The Head of Grammar reports to the Headmaster.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Communicate the vision and mission of JECA
  • Provide vision, direction, and inspiration to faculty, families, and students
  • Nurture a school culture that promotes scholarship, spiritual growth, and Christian community
  • Oversee curriculum, instruction, and assessment in cooperation with the Academic Dean
  • Contribute to faculty hiring, and help oversee their development, and evaluation
  • Provide instructional leadership and coaching for faculty along with the Director of Professional Development
  • Shepherd student discipline issues
  • Establish and nurture parent relationships
  • Serve as a member of the school’s Executive and Admissions Teams

OTHER DUTIES

The primary duties of this role include:

  • Meet regularly with the faculty
  • Work with the Director of Professional Development to maintain a regular schedule of teacher supervision and evaluation and encourage a culture of lifelong learning
  • Coordinate peer teacher observations
  • Work alongside Student Support to collaborate and support teachers to help identify best practices on how to deliver accommodations in accordance with best practices for JECA’s context
  • Set and manage the Grammar School budget in coordination with the Headmaster and bookkeeper
  • Ensure that resources are directed toward improving student learning and mission accomplishment
  • Approve field trips and special activities
