Part-Time/Half Day | On-Campus | Coram Deo School | Huntsville, AL

Position Overview:
Coram Deo School is seeking a joyful, biblically grounded 2nd Grade teacher to join the founding faculty of our classical Christian school in Huntsville, Alabama. As a start-up institution committed to training students to live before the face of God, we are looking for a teacher who not only loves young children but also understands the formative power of classical education in shaping hearts and minds toward wisdom, virtue, and godliness.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Lead a structured and joyful classroom of 2nd grade students, cultivating wonder, reverence, and attentiveness
  • Teach reading comprehension, cursive writing, spelling, math, Bible, literature, and nature study using classical methods
  • Integrate a biblical worldview throughout all subjects and activities
  • Foster habits of character such as humility, diligence, and love for neighbor
  • Build strong relationships with students and families, encouraging unity between home, church, and school
  • Contribute to the collaborative development of curriculum and school culture during these foundational years
  • Engage in faculty prayer, fellowship, and ongoing training in classical Christian pedagogy

Qualifications:

  • A mature and growing Christian faith and agreement with Coram Deo School’s statement of faith
  • A love for children and a joyful, nurturing teaching presence
  • Bachelor’s degree required (education or liberal arts preferred); prior teaching experience valued
  • Familiarity with or strong interest in classical Christian education
  • Strong communication skills and a team-oriented, pioneering mindset suited to a start-up school environment
  • Active membership in a Bible-believing church

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Training or experience in phonics-based reading instruction and early math education
  • Exposure to classical education (e.g., the Trivium, Christian classical literature)
