Position Overview

The Academic Dean & Campus Chaplain serves as a teacher and one of the spiritual, pedagogical, and instructional leaders at Logos Classical Academy. This role embodies and upholds the school’s mission:

“The mission of LCA is to glorify God by working in partnership with Christian families to equip their children with a Christ-centered, academically excellent, classical education focused on instilling knowledge, understanding, and wisdom.”

Working alongside the Head of School, this position fosters a culture and pedagogy that align with the school’s mission and vision, ensuring both academic excellence and the spiritual growth of the school community.

The Academic Dean provides leadership in curriculum development, faculty mentoring, and student formation, while the Campus Chaplain shepherds students through discipleship, chapel leadership, and pastoral care.

The ideal candidate is a decisive and principled leader, deeply committed to classical Christian education, whole-child formation, and biblical discipleship.

Academic Dean Responsibilities

Leadership & Mission Alignment
• Serve as a key leader in spiritual, pedagogical, and instructional initiatives.

• Uphold and promote the mission and vision of Logos Classical Academy across all academic and community endeavors.

• Foster a culture of classical education grounded in biblical principles and academic integrity.

• Act as a representative of the school in internal and external academic discussions.

Academic Oversight
• Ensure all academic initiatives, curriculum, and pedagogical practices align with the school’s mission and classical education philosophy.

• Oversee curriculum mapping, ensuring that course objectives reflect classical pedagogy and academic rigor.

• Support and mentor faculty in instructional best practices, classroom management, and biblical integration.

• Assist with faculty evaluations and professional development, fostering continued growth in classical Christian instruction.

Student & Community Formation
• Oversee student academic progress, ensuring proper assessment and support for individual learning needs.

• Cultivate a school culture of virtue, discipline, and biblical wisdom.

• Partner with families in the discipleship and classical formation of students.

(Possible) Campus Chaplain Responsibilities
(If this role is included, additional responsibilities may be assigned.)

• Lead chapel services, guiding students in worship and biblical teaching.

• Provide pastoral care and spiritual mentorship for students and faculty.

• Assist in shaping the school’s spiritual formation programs and discipleship initiatives.

• Support students in developing a biblical worldview through their studies and daily life.

Teaching Responsibilities
• Teach Upper School humanities courses (history, literature, theology, or philosophy) using classical methods.

• Guide students through Socratic discussion, primary source analysis, and biblical integration.

• Foster a love for learning and encourage intellectual and moral development in students.

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Humanities, Theology, or a related field (Master’s preferred).

• Experience in classical Christian education and a deep commitment to its philosophy.

• Strong leadership and administrative skills with experience in curriculum development and faculty mentorship.

• Ability to shepherd and disciple students in their spiritual and academic growth.

• Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to engage faculty, parents, and students effectively.

• A mature Christian faith, with a strong biblical worldview and alignment with Logos Classical Academy’s doctrinal statement.
