About the Ministry
Trinity Classical Academy (TCA) is a classical Christian school, rooted deeply in the life and mission of Trinity Presbyterian Church (TPC,) a member of the Communion of Reformed Evangelical Churches (CREC). As a covenantal extension of the church, our school exists to cultivate wise, virtuous, and Godly students through time-tested classical pedagogy and joyful submission to Christ’s lordship over all of life.
Position Summary
TPC and TCA seek an Assistant Pastor & Headmaster to serve in a dual-ordained capacity. This man will serve primarily in an executive capacity as the Head of School, providing academic, spiritual, and operational leadership for our classical Christian school. As Assistant Pastor, he will also be integrated into the pastoral life of TPC, ensuring a covenantal connection between the church and the school. He must be a proven shepherd, scholar, and executive leader who embodies the Biblical qualifications of an elder, with a demonstrated love for the paideia of the Lord.
Responsibilities
School Leadership (Primary Focus)
- Vision & Strategy: Serve as the head of school for TCA, executing the strategic vision of the school in alignment with the church’s leadership.
- Operational Oversight: Manage day-to-day operations, administrative staff, budgeting, and institutional development.
- Academic Culture: Cultivate a rigorous, joyful classical Christian culture among faculty, staff, and students.
- Community Relations: Act as the primary ambassador for TCA, fostering strong relationships with parents, donors, and the broader community.
- Recruitment: Cooperate with the school board to hire and mentor staff who embody TCA’s vision and values
Pastoral Duties
- Pastoral Care: Provide spiritual shepherding, counsel, and pastoral care to TCA families, faculty, and the broader TPC congregation.
- Executive Leadership: Provide pastoral oversight of the church’s day-to-day operations, staff development, and organizational health, ensuring the effective implementation of the session’s vision across all ministries.
- Liturgical Service: Assist the Senior Pastor in regular Lord’s Day worship, administration of the sacraments, and teaching/preaching as needed.
- Church Alignment: Maintain strict alignment between TCA’s curriculum and the theological standards of TPC.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate:
- Ecclesiastical Standing: Be an ordained minister, or ready for ordination, within the CREC, or a Reformed evangelical denomination, with a willingness to transfer credentials and membership to the Presbytery and to TPC. The candidate would demonstrate a mature understanding of the Scriptures, articulating clearly how they shape every facet of Christian education and institutional leadership.
- Character: Be above reproach, the husband of one wife, a faithful steward of his family, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, and hospitable (1 Timothy 3 / Titus 1).
- Theological Conviction: Show a strong commitment to the doctrinal distinctives of the CREC, particularly in the areas of covenant theology, historic liturgy, and an optimistic eschatology.
- Leadership Experience: Demonstrate proven executive or administrative leadership, preferably within a classical Christian education environment or a complex ministry setting.
