Position Description

Faith Christian School, a private classical Christian school nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Roanoke, Virginia, is seeking an Apprentice Teacher for grades K-2. This is a full-time position requiring approximately 40 hours per week (7:30am-3:30pm). More than an aide, an Apprentice Teacher is a classroom teacher in training who takes on instructional duties, student support, and grading responsibilities. This role helps us continue our tradition of excellence by giving students more individualized and small-group instruction within the classroom. The Apprentice Teacher will serve mainly in first and second grade, with occasional observation and support in kindergarten. Under the guidance of a mentor teacher, the Apprentice Teacher will observe mentor teachers’ courses, teach their own lessons while mentor teachers observe, and carry a teacher’s everyday responsibilities, including lesson planning, grading, supervising student work, and attending professional development and faculty meetings. Applicants should have a teachable spirit and a heart for shepherding young children in knowledge, wisdom, and virtue. Salary compensation based on experience: $25,000 to $32,000.
