Position Description

Barry County Christian Schools is seeking a committed Christian leader to serve as its next Executive Director.

For 55 years, BCCS has partnered with families to provide Christ-centered education in Barry County. Today, BCCS operates two K–12 campuses in Hastings and Middleville. Our mission is “Inspiring and Equipping our students to achieve their God-given potential.”

The Executive Director is the senior administrative leader of the organization and reports directly to the BCCS Executive Board. This individual provides leadership for both school campuses, directly supervises both campus principals, and is responsible for hiring personnel throughout the organization.

The Executive Director also provides leadership for the BCCS Foundation and oversees its business operations.

This is more than an administrative position. We are seeking someone who believes deeply in Christian education, leads with humility and courage, builds strong relationships, develops other leaders, and is prepared to guide BCCS into its next season.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Organizational Leadership

  • Carry out the mission, vision, and strategic direction of Barry County Christian Schools.
  • Provide leadership across the Hastings and Middleville campuses.
  • Report directly to and work closely with the BCCS Executive Board.
  • Directly supervise, support, and evaluate both campus principals.
  • Lead the recruitment, selection, and hiring of personnel throughout the organization.
  • Build a healthy organizational culture grounded in faithfulness, love, truth, courage, and humility.
  • Maintain strong relationships with staff members, families, churches, donors, and community partners.
  • Represent BCCS publicly and communicate its mission throughout the community.

Academic Leadership

  • Protect and strengthen the Christ-centered identity of BCCS.
  • Support the continued development of classical Christian education across both campuses.
  • Work with principals and teachers to promote academic excellence, spiritual formation, and student growth.
  • Ensure that curriculum, instruction, and school practices remain consistent with the mission and beliefs of BCCS.
  • Promote a school culture in which students are known, challenged, supported, and prepared for life beyond graduation.

Financial and Operational Leadership

  • Oversee organizational budgeting, financial planning, and fiscal accountability.
  • Work closely with the Finance Director and Executive Board to maintain responsible financial practices.
  • Provide oversight of enrollment, staffing, facilities, safety, compliance, and daily operations.
  • Strengthen enrollment, affordability, and the long-term financial sustainability of the organization.
  • Ensure that policies and procedures are implemented consistently across both campuses.

Foundation and Business Leadership

  • Provide executive leadership for the BCCS Foundation.
  • Lead fundraising, donor development, and advancement efforts.
  • Oversee the financial aid funding process
  • Work with the Foundation Board and organizational leaders to strengthen business operations and revenue.
  • Identify opportunities to expand scholarships and provide assistance to families.
  • Develop relationships with donors, businesses, churches, and community partners.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

We are open to candidates with leadership experience in education, ministry, nonprofit organizations, business, or other relevant fields.

The successful candidate should:

  • Be a committed follower of Jesus Christ whose personal life and leadership reflect biblical character.
  • Be actively involved in a local Christian church.
  • Fully support and agree with the mission, beliefs, and values of Barry County Christian Schools.
  • Demonstrate a genuine calling to Christian education.
  • Possess strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Have experience leading people and managing an organization or complex operation.
  • Demonstrate the ability to recruit, hire, supervise, and develop effective employees and leadership teams.
  • Be able to work effectively with boards, administrators, teachers, parents, donors, and community leaders.
  • Demonstrate integrity, sound judgment, financial responsibility, and the ability to make difficult decisions.
  • Understand the importance of both protecting the mission and maintaining organizational sustainability.
  • Be willing to learn and support the classical Christian model of education.
  • Hold a master’s degree or demonstrate comparable leadership experience. A master’s degree is preferred but is not required.

POSITION DETAILS

Position: Executive Director
Organization: Barry County Christian Schools and BCCS Foundation
Location: Barry County, Michigan
Employment Status: Full-time
Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible, with the precise date negotiated with the selected candidate
Salary Range: $60,000–$80,000, based on experience and qualifications
Benefits: Paid time off and tuition assistance
