Lower School Latin Teacher (Part-Time)

Position Description

Capstone Classical Academy is seeking a part-time Latin instructor for our grammar school students (Grades 1–5). We believe Latin is the “gatekeeper” to the liberal arts, and we are looking for a teacher who can make the language come alive for our young Learners.

The Role

• Instruction: Lead introductory Latin classes focused on foundational grammar, vocabulary, and English derivatives.

• Engagement: Use classical pedagogy to make memorization a delight rather than a chore.

• Integration: Connect Latin roots to Bible passages, hymns, and Western history.

The Candidate

• Faithful: A committed Christian who sees the study of language as a way to better understand God’s Word and the history of His Church.

• Enthusiastic: Someone who can inspire 9-year-olds to love declensions and appreciate the order of the Latin language.

• Competent: A strong grasp of Latin grammar (classical or ecclesiastical) and a desire to grow in the classical tradition.

Requirements

• Experience teaching children or a degree in Classics/Liberal Arts.

• Active involvement in a local Christian church.
