Upper School Math and/or Science Teacher
Math Subjects: Pre-algebra, Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, or smiliar
Science Subjects: General Science, Physical Science, Biology, Environmental Science, Chemistry, or similar
Supervisor: Dean of Upper School
Direct Reports: None
Primary Work Location: In person
Job Type: Part-time, 10 month contract (year to year)
FLSA Status: Exempt (salary and not eligible for overtime)
Annual Assessment: Performance of this job will be assessed annually by the direct supervisor in accordance with provisions of the school’s policy on assessment of personnel.
Schedule: On Campus Days: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday
Satellite Days: Wednesday and Friday – Teachers should be available to families to answer questions via email on satellite days per the teacher handbook.
Training or similar events may require other work days per the employment contract.
About Cathedral Oak Academy: We are a collaborative classical Christian school founded in 2021. Students spend 3 days on campus with their teacher and 2 days in their satellite classroomat home. Both classrooms are under the supervision of the professional educator. We are committed to educating using a classical approach and are discipleship-oriented in our mission. We expect all of our staff to be professing Christians and model the Christian life.

Qualifications & Experience:
- 3+ years of experience in teaching upper school (preferred not required).
- Bachelor’s degree in science, mathematics, education or related field preferred, relevant experience and education taken into consideration.
- Teacher License NOT required at this time.
- Previous experience or willingness to learn about classical Christian education and the collaborative model.
- A deep personal faith in Jesus Christ, with a strong desire to integrate Biblical principles into all aspects of teaching.
- Proficient in basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, Google Suite, etc.).
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
Job Description: Cathedral Oak Academy is seeking Upper School Science and/or Math Teachers to join our team. The ideal candidate is committed to providing a Christ-centered education while embracing the classical model of education within the collaborative model, which partners closely with parents as co-teachers. The teacher will be responsible for developing and delivering engaging lessons that integrate a Biblical worldview into all subjects, fostering both intellectual and spiritual growth in students. The ultimate goal is that of producing wholesome, competent men and women of character who make a positive difference for Christ in the next generation
Job Responsibilities and Requirements:
Spiritual and Character Development:

Instruction and Curriculum:
- Teach in a manner that is consistent with the principles of classical education and the school’s mission.
- Develop and implement lesson plans that are engaging.
- Assess and evaluate student performance regularly using a variety of methods such as tests, essays, projects, and oral presentations.
Classroom Management:
- Maintain a positive, structured, and disciplined classroom environment that encourages respect, collaboration, and academic excellence.
- Establish clear expectations for student behavior and academic performance, maintaining consistency and fairness in enforcing classroom policies.
- Provide support to students as needed, helping them navigate academic challenges and grow in their understanding of subjects.
Collaboration and Professional Development:
- Collaborate with fellow teachers, Dean of Upper School, and Head of School to align the curriculum, share teaching strategies, and develop interdisciplinary projects.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development sessions, and school-wide activities to stay current on educational best practices and contribute to the overall growth of the school.
- Engage in ongoing reflection and development of personal teaching practices, with a commitment to continuous improvement and growth in both academic and spiritual areas.
Spiritual Leadership:
- Model Christ-like behavior and integrate Biblical teachings into daily lessons and classroom discussions.
- Emphasize the Christian virtues of love, kindness, honesty, and respect.
- Encourage students in their personal relationship with Christ and foster a classroom environment that nurtures their spiritual growth.
Assessment and Communication:
- Regularly assess student progress and provide feedback to students and parents in a timely manner.
- Prepare report cards, progress reports, and participate in parent-teacher conferences as needed.
- Maintain effective and positive communication with parents regarding their child’s academic, social, and spiritual development.
- Participate in parent-teacher conferences, school events, and other opportunities to build strong relationships with the school community.
Ministerial Duties
The Employee acknowledges that the School is a Christian educational institution, and as such, the Employee’s role includes the performance of certain ministerial duties in addition to their regular professional responsibilities. These duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Leading, participating in, or supporting school-wide prayer, devotionals, chapel services, and other spiritual activities;
- Modeling Christian values and conduct in personal and professional interactions with students, families, and staff;
- Assisting in the spiritual development of students through mentoring, guidance, or teaching in accordance with the School’s Christian mission and beliefs;
- Supporting the integration of faith and learning in curriculum and classroom activities as appropriate;
- Representing the School in a manner consistent with its Christian mission and values both on and off campus.
The Employee understands and agrees that these ministerial duties are a fundamental part of their employment and that performance of these duties is a condition of continued employment with the School.
Other Responsibilities:

Physical Requirements:
Must be able to use a variety of equipment and classroom tools such as computers, copiers, typewriters, calculators, pencils, scissors, and equipment, etc. Must be able to exert a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Due to the amount of time spent standing and/or walking, physical requirements are consistent with those for Light Work.

2 full paid days off each year, 3+ days off are partially paid.
Continuing education opportunities for teacher training
Health insurance, 401k, and other benefits are not available due to the part time nature of this position.
Terms of Employment:
Positions are assessed yearly based on annual reviews and employment contracts may or may not be renewed, based on performance. Employment relationships at Cathedral Oak Academy exist at the will of both employees and employers. Both parties have the right to end a working relationship at any time for almost any reason or no reason at all, and there is no legal requirement to provide advance notice.
