Position Description
Cornerstone Academy is in search of its next Head of School. Currently serving the greater Gainesville area for its 25th year, Cornerstone Academy provides a Classical Christian education to 158 students in K5-12th grades.
At Cornerstone, our highest goal is to graduate young men and women who think clearly and listen carefully with discernment and understanding, who reason persuasively and articulate precisely, who are capable of evaluating their entire range of experience in the light of Scripture and who do so with eagerness, in joyful submission to God. We also aspire to graduate students who recognize cultural influences as distinct from Biblical and who are well-prepared in all situations, possessing both information and knowledge of how to use it for God’s glory and kingdom. We desire that they be socially graceful and spiritually gracious, strive for excellence in all things, and be equipped with and understanding the tools of life-long learning.
Applicants must be a committed Christian seeking to walk with the Lord on a daily basis and also possess the following attributes:
Strong management and operations experience
Confident leadership abilities and a collaborative spirit
Strong interpersonal and relational skills
The Head of School will serve as the spiritual, academic, and administrative leader, ensuring the school’s mission is upheld and its community thrives. Key responsibilities include providing visionary leadership grounded in a Biblical worldview, overseeing the implementation of a Classical curriculum, and fostering spiritual growth among staff and students. The head of school manages day-to-day operations, including hiring, mentoring, and evaluating faculty, while maintaining high academic and moral standards. They work closely with the school board to set strategic goals, develop policies, and ensure financial sustainability through budget oversight and fundraising efforts. Additionally, the head of school serves as the primary spokesperson for the school, engaging with parents, donors, and the broader community to promote enrollment growth and build strong relationships that support the school’s mission.
For consideration, candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree, with a master’s degree preferred, and demonstrate an understanding of classical education and its principles.
