PRINCIPAL JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Principal
Reports To: Head of School
Supervises: Faculty and Student Support Personnel
Position Type: Full-Time, Exempt
Position Summary
The Principal serves as a spiritual, cultural, and operational leader of the school, ensuring that
daily school life reflects a robust Classical Christian worldview and a joyful, orderly, student-
forming community. As the school grows from 180 to an anticipated 300 students over the
next five years, the Principal will guide faculty development, strengthen parent partnerships,
and steward healthy student discipline systems that cultivate inward transformation and Christ-
like character.
The Principal works closely with the Academic Dean, who owns curriculum and academic
programming, to create coherence between instructional expectations, teacher development,
and student life. Both roles report to the Head of School.
Essential Responsibilities
1. Spiritual & Cultural Leadership
Model a mature Christian walk in prayerfulness, humility, and service.
Shepherd the school community; establish and reinforce a school culture grounded in
classical Christian virtues such as wisdom, truth, beauty, diligence, and respect.
Communicate school mission, expectations, and culture clearly and consistently to
students, staff, and families.
2. Faculty Leadership & Professional Development
Principal’s primary focus area
Provide direct coaching, mentoring, and formation for teachers, especially those new to
Classical Christian pedagogy.
Collaborate with the Academic Dean to align teacher development with academic
expectations and classroom practices.
Conduct classroom observations, provide actionable feedback, and foster a culture of
continuous improvement.
Lead regular faculty meetings to share goals, evaluate progress, and strengthen unity
and morale.
Oversee faculty recruitment, onboarding, evaluation, and retention in collaboration
with the Head of School.
3. Student Formation, Discipline, & Parent Partnership
Principal’s second major focus area
Oversee student behavior, character formation, and discipline with a distinctly
redemptive and relational approach that seeks heart-level change.
Partner with parents as co-laborers in discipleship, communicating expectations clearly
and addressing concerns with grace and truth.
Build rapport with students and maintain a well-ordered environment marked by joy,
respect, and virtue.
4. Operational Leadership
Manage daily school operations including scheduling, supervision, student attendance,
safety, and emergency procedures.
Support smooth transitions as the school prepares to move to a new campus and
expand enrollment.
Assist the Head of School with budgeting, resource allocation, and staffing strategies
appropriate for a growing school.
Ensure compliance with school policies.
5. Community & Stakeholder Relations
Build a strong, trusting partnership with parents focused on clarity, consistency, and
mutual commitment to Classical Christian formation.
Represent the school at community events, prospective family engagements, and school
functions.
Help maintain high levels of parent satisfaction and student retention through excellent
communication and relational warmth.
Qualifications
Spiritual Qualifications
A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and agreement with the school’s Statements of
Faith
Professional Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred. Studies in Leadership, Classical
Education, Christian School Administration, Ministry, or related areas are a plus.
Completion of a recognized Classical Christian education certification (e.g., ACCS
Teacher/Administrator Certification, CiRCE Certified Classical Teacher or Leadership
track, Turning Point Academy classical school leadership certificate) is strongly preferred
Experience in Classical Christian education strongly preferred
Demonstrated success in supervising, mentoring, and developing people in a team-
based environment, with the ability to translate those leadership skills into supporting
and coaching teachers in a Classical Christian school setting.
Experience guiding young people, or comparable experience in shepherding, counseling,
or personnel management, with the ability to apply those skills to student discipline and
to partnering constructively with parents in a Christian school community.
