Position Description
The Teacher fulfills the mission of La Luz Christian Academy by discipling students and providing distinctly Christian Liberal Arts instruction rooted in the Trivium and Quadrivium. This role teaches all that God has commanded, trains students in Godly discernment and critical thinking, inspires wonder at God and love for His creation, meets academic objectives, and tailors learning to individual readiness.
The Teacher partners with families through clear communication and timely feedback on academic progress and discipline.
Responsibilities include annual curriculum mapping; lesson planning; ongoing student assessment; deep subject mastery, engaging and animated instruction; individualized coaching; timely grade entry (within 48 hours); faculty meeting and training participation; supporting struggling students in coordination with the Head of School; and cultivating a well-ordered, organized classroom of active learners.
Qualifications: a heart for the gospel and for children; strength in humanities and number sense (or willingness to pursue rigorous study); love for God’s creation; flexibility in teaching methods; classroom leadership marked by loving, consistent discipline; and the ability to mentor students patiently. A Classical Liberal Arts background or equivalent experience is preferred; candidates without formal training must commit to thorough preparation prior to the school year.
