Position Description
Responsibilities
- Teach high school and dual credit courses (in alignment with Colorado Christian University) for one or more of the following: Geometry, Algebra II, Statistics, Calculus, Anatomy & Physiology, and/or Chemistry
- Design and deliver engaging, discussion-rich lessons that highlight the harmony between Scripture and the created order
- Incorporate laboratory work (for sciences) and rigorous proof-based exploration (for mathematics) while cultivating virtue and intellectual humility
- Assess student mastery through essays, oral defenses, lab reports, problem sets, and exams
Mentor students in the rhetoric stage of the trivium, helping them connect mathematical and scientific truths to a biblical worldview - Collaborate with the upper-school faculty on cross-disciplinary projects, senior thesis support, and rhetoric school activities
- Participate in faculty professional development and other community events
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s preferred) in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or a related STEM field
- Proven excellence teaching upper-school math and/or science, preferably in a classical Christian setting
- Deep personal faith in Jesus Christ and enthusiastic agreement with SCA’s Statement of Faith
Strong grasp of (or earnest desire to master) classical pedagogy and the logic/rhetoric stages of the trivium - Ability (or willingness to obtain) ACCS teacher certification
- Excellent communication skills and a heart for discipling adolescents
Preferred Additional Strengths
- Ability to teach multiple levels across both math and science (ideal but not required)
- Experience preparing students for AP or dual-enrollment (DE) Calculus (AB or BC), AP Chemistry, or DE science courses
- Familiarity with classical science curricula (e.g., Novare Science) and math curricula that emphasize discovery and proof
- Coaching or club sponsorship interest (e.g., math team, robotics, science olympiad)
