Part-time Lower School Drama Teacher
Position Description

The Geneva School is seeking applications for a part time grammar school drama teacher (1st and 3rd grades) in our lower school. A qualified candidate will have the ability to work with the classroom teachers to cast and direct rehearsals and performances.
I. Essential Duties
Specific Job Responsibilities
- Develop a plan for each grade level’s play(s) by working with each grade level team to determine the rehearsal schedule and performance day schedules preferably during pre-planning
- Collaborate with each grade level team to create a schedule for each play including goals and deadlines for casting, line memorization, and scene rehearsals
- Enthusiastically and competently implement Geneva’s performing arts curriculum under the guidance of each grade level’s team leader, while bringing his or her intelligence, energy, and creativity to bear on the craft of performance
- Cast plays for upper grammar program (3rd-6th grades); early childhood program (K4-2nd grades) will have classroom teachers casting the plays
- Evaluate student progress appropriately
- Collaborate with fellow teachers and administration to further develop best practices as a performing arts educator in an independent school
- Skillfully manage a classroom of young people with varying strengths and experiences with the performing arts
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, faculty and staff
- Committed to being a life-long learner as well as committed to growing professionally as an educator through Geneva’s professional formation initiatives
- Follow Geneva’s policies and procedures
- Serve as a role model within our communities for Christian Classical Education
II. Personal Profile
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Hold at least a bachelor’s degree in a field related to the performing arts
- Have experience directing lower school aged children in plays and performances
- Will understand fundamentally and support the Christian and classical approach to education practiced at The Geneva School
- Will have flexibility of schedule and be available to meet with students before or after school as needed. Will have the ability to have additional practices after school as the play dates approach
