Position Description
Veritas Academy Mission and Goal
Founded in 1998, the mission of Veritas Academy is to assist parents in the education of their children by cultivating truth, goodness, and beauty in students through a distinctly Christ-centered, classical, and covenantal education.
Our goal, in conjunction with the family and the church, is to graduate young men and women who:

All members of the teaching staff and all department directors (Operations, Admissions, Athletic, etc.) shall be appointed by the Headmaster after a careful consideration of their spiritual, academic, and professional qualifications.
Administrator Qualifications at Veritas
Veritas Academy’s primary doctrinal foundation is the Westminster Standards. We believe this historic confession is a faithful, comprehensive, and reliable exposition of Biblical teaching. The theology of the Westminster Standards is the bedrock of our Christian worldview and gives shape and substance to the entire curriculum.
All staff must agree to Veritas Academy’s statement on the Sanctity of Life, Marriage, Gender, and Sexuality.
All administrators (headmaster, principals, or deans) must give evidence of unreserved agreement with the Veritas Academy Statement of Faith (i.e., the Westminster Confession). Any exceptions to the Westminster Standards must be stated in writing, and if such exceptions are determined to be of a serious nature, undermining the integrity of Presbyterian and Reformed Theology, employment shall not be allowed.
All administrators must be members of a church which embraces the Veritas Academy Statement of Faith, teaching the doctrines of the infallibility and inerrancy of the Word of God, the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments, and the system of biblical doctrine set forth in the Westminster Confession of Faith and the Westminster Larger and Shorter Catechisms.
Qualifications & Responsibilities
All Veritas staff must:
- Be scripturally sound in their teaching and shall lead exemplary lives. Staff members shall not be quarrelsome or given to controversy and dissension.
- Comply with all applicable policies of Veritas Academy and with all administrative directives. It is also expected that the staff member will meet all qualifications and perform all duties as specified in the pertinent job description.
- Attend staff meetings and colloquies as prescribed by the Headmaster. Attend annual orientation and periodic training, as required and prescribed by the Headmaster.
- Assist with the daily co-curricular needs of the school (i.e. Lunch Duty, Recess Duty, Car-Pool, etc.) as assigned. All staff members will conduct/attend school programs, activities, and special meetings as instructed.
- Devote himself to daily, personal reading and study of God’s word and prayer and strive to consistently exhibit love, joy, peace, and spiritual maturity in his daily work and relationships with others in the school.
- Follow the Biblical pattern of resolving conflict as instructed in Matthew 5:23-24, Matthew 18 and the Grievance and Communication Policy and will always give a good report. All differences will be resolved by utilizing Biblical principles. He will observe appropriate confidentiality in regard to pupil, parent, board and school matters.
- Accept without verbal or mental reservations the Mission, Foundational Commitments, Approach, and Goals of Veritas Academy, and must be committed to upholding them.
- Serve Christ under the authority of a Christian church whose beliefs and teachings are in fundamental agreement with the Veritas Statement of Faith.
- Agree to and accept personal responsibility to serve as a Christian role model to Veritas Academy’s students, parents, and employees, both in and out of school, by manifesting Christian virtues and personal decorum, as defined in the Bible. He must agree and accept that certain behaviors including, but not limited to: adultery or other deviant sexual relations; the use of pornographic materials or websites; the use of illegal drugs; the use of profane language; the abuse of alcohol, tobacco, or legal drugs; and habitual gossip, slander, or dissension are grounds for immediate dismissal from employment of Veritas Academy. He agrees to live by the Code of Conduct Policy and the Statement on Sanctity of Life, Marriage, Gender, and Sexuality.
Particular Duties of the Upper School Dean
The Upper School Dean works under the direct supervision of the Headmaster. He/she is responsible for assisting the Headmaster in the day-to-day operations of Veritas Academy in accordance with its mission of Veritas Academy.
Specific responsibilities of this position are as follows:
Oversight of Logic & Rhetoric School (7th-12th)
- Manage day to day operations of the Upper School.
- Assist the Headmaster in recruiting, hiring, evaluating of faculty for grades 7th t0 12th grade.
- Lead and coordinate with the teachers and Headmaster in the development and implementation of classroom curriculum for grades 7th to 12th.
- Encourage teachers, enforce general decorum standards, and create a robust a Christian culture in the Upper School.
- Supervise the faculty by conducting regular and frequent classroom observations, completing annual teacher evaluations, provide ongoing faculty training, review lesson plans and syllabi, and mentor new teachers.
- Develop class schedules, order curriculum, oversee extended day activities, review syllabi and lesson plans, and publish report cards.
- Enforce applicable school policy, meet with students in cases of discipline, and provide clear and effective communication to parents.
- Explain the tenants of Classical Christian Education to parents and broader community through regular parental education.
General Administration
- Implement established school policies and directives from the Headmaster and Board.
- Assist the Headmaster to revise, provide recommendations, and update school policies (i.e., School Policy Manual, Parent-Student Handbook, and Staff Handbook).
- Assist the Headmaster in developing the annual budget based on school needs.
Operations and Facilities –Assist the Headmaster to:
- Secure and maintain facilities and equipment necessary for all school activities.
- Assist the teachers and headmaster in setting up rooms, equipment, and furniture as needed for school programs and activities.
- Maintain healthy and safe facility conditions for faculty, staff, and students.
- Assist the Headmaster with School Safety Protocols, Drills, and Inspections.
- Maintain amicable relations with the Independent Presbyterian Church per the property lease agreement.
