About us:

White Horse Academy (WHA) is Bloomington-Normal’s first and only Classical Christian school.  Our Mission is to glorify God by providing a Christ-centered and Classical education which equips students for lives of wisdom and virtue by teaching them to love what is True, Good, and Beautiful.

As a new school currently in our inaugural year, we are looking for pioneer spirits who are willing and excited to partner with us as we establish an academic and spiritual oasis in the cornfields of Central Illinois. WHA may be starting small in year one, but we have a vision to grow into a vibrant K-12 institution that is raising the next generation of Christian Leaders.

Our school is unique because it operates in a “part time” model, meeting Monday to Friday mornings from 8 am to 12:15 pm. Consequently, all of our teachers are considered part time, with work hours from 7:30 am to 1:00 pm.

About the Job:

We seek to hire one additional Grammar school teachers for the 2025/26 school year.  Due to the startup nature of WHA, we currently have two small combined grades classes; Non-readers(K-1) & Already-Readers(2-3).  We anticipate having a standalone Kindergarten class for 2025/26, and likely move up the two combined classes.

Teachers are expected to work from August 1st to May 31st, with classes starting the day after Labor Day, and ending the Friday before Memorial Day. There is also the strong possibility that Teachers will be required to attend one or two  in person training events during the summer months (June/July), such as the ACCS Conference,  Herzog Foundation Training, or potentially an event through our partnership as a Hillsdale College Curriculum School.

Responsibilities:

• Mentor students as they read and discuss the Classics alongside you
• Develop and implement educational plans and curriculum for students
• Model and teach students about Christ’s love for them and the Golden Rule
• Collaborate with other teachers, parents, and education administration to support student growth
• Inspire students to obtain self-mastery and build an intrinsic desire for self-education and governance.

Qualifications:

Requirements:

• Contagious love for the Classics and Great Books
• Professing Christian and active Church member (any denomination)
• Agree with our Statement of Faith
• Demonstrable passion for self-education
• Pioneer mindset that isn’t afraid of uncertainty, trying new ideas, and iterating to seek after a perfect standard that is unobtainable this side of paradise.

Experience:

• Previous educational/teaching experience (Elementary preferred)
• Classically Trained and Educated (preferred)
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Bachelor’s Degree (preferred)

Employment Classification:

• 10 Months, Part-Time, Exempt

Salary and Benefits:

• $21,000 over 12 months.
• Half Tuition scholarships for your children
• Paid School Holidays, including a week for Thanksgiving and Spring Break, 2 weeks for Christmas, and 2 month Summer Break.
