About us:

White Horse Academy (WHA) is Bloomington-Normal’s first and only Classical Christian school. Our Mission is to glorify God by providing a Christ-centered and Classical education which equips students for lives of wisdom and virtue by teaching them to love what is True, Good, and Beautiful.

We are looking for Christian teachers who are excited to partner with us as we grow an academic and spiritual oasis in the cornfields of Central Illinois. We have a vision to become a vibrant K-12 institution that is raising the next generation of faithful Christian cultural leaders.

Our school is unique because it operates in a “part time” model, meeting Monday to Friday mornings from 8 am to 12:15 pm. Consequently, all of our teachers are considered part time, with work hours from 7:30 am to 1:30 pm. Currently, we serve grades K-7.

We meet at Second Presbyterian Church in downtown Bloomington, Illinois.

About the Job:

We seek to hire two Grammar School Teacher for the 2026/27 school year, starting August 1st, 2026. We are hiring for lower elementary, so Kindergarten, First, or Second grade.

Teachers are expected to work from August 1st to May 31st, with classes starting the Thursday before Labor Day, and ending the Friday before Memorial Day. There is also the strong possibility that teachers will be required to attend paid training conferences in late July.

Responsibilities:

• Mentor students as they read and discuss the classical Great Books alongside you.
• Develop and implement educational plans and curriculum for students.
• Model and teach students about Christ’s love for them and the Moral Law.
• Collaborate with other teachers, parents, and education administration to support student growth.
• Inspire students to obtain self-mastery and build an intrinsic desire for self-education and governance.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Contagious love for the Classics and Great Books
• Professing Christian and active Church member (any denomination)
• Agree with our Statement of Faith
• Demonstrable passion for self-education
• Pioneer mindset that isn’t afraid of uncertainty, trying new ideas, and iterating to seek after a perfect standard that is unobtainable this side of paradise

Desired Experience:

• Previous educational/teaching experience (Elementary preferred)
• Classically Trained and Educated (preferred)
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Bachelor’s Degree (preferred)

Salary and Benefits:

• $22,000 over 12 months.
• Half Tuition Scholarships for your children enrolled at White Horse.
• Paid School Holidays, including Fall Break, Thanksgiving, Spring Break, 2 weeks for Christmas, and 2 month Summer Holiday(June/July).
