Aftercare Aide
The Geneva School is a mission-driven school established in 1993. Our mission is to provide students in grades K4-12 with an extraordinary education, by means of an integrated curriculum, pedagogy, and culture, both distinctly classical and distinctively Christian, that pursues goodness, truth, and beauty in all spheres of life while viewing these spheres as elements of a divinely ordered whole. Furthermore, Geneva seeks to instill in students a desire to appreciate beauty, think critically, and pursue Christ’s calling. As a mission-driven school, faculty members play a central role in fulfilling our mission.
The Geneva School is seeking applications for part-time Aftercare Aides to supervise students in K4–6th grade who remain on campus after school. The Aftercare Aides play a vital role in providing a safe, nurturing and engaging environment for our students at the end of the day.
Essential Duties:
(This list is not exhaustive and many other jobs and responsibilities are done on an ad hoc and as
needed basis.)
- Be present during scheduled days and times in the designated area.
- Monitor children in supervised areas.
- Effective verbal communication with students.
- Provide a snack and drink and watch for hydration of children.
- Hold children present to the proper standard of behavior and deal with issues as they arise.
- Effective verbal communication with parents if issues of unsatisfactory behavior are present.
- Monitor that each child is signed out and picked up by an approved adult.
- Assist injured children with basic first aid.
- Make and print out for each week log of all who are registered for Aftercare.
- Keep an accurate log of who is using Aftercare and turn these in to Accounting each day.
- Keep track of allergies and maintain an up to date list in Aftercare Binder.
- Keep a log of discipline/incidents including details of communication with parents.
- Communicate with Aftercare Coordinator when there is an issue that cannot be resolved with parent.
- Approve time sheets at the end of each pay period.
- Remain after 5:30 pm is a child’s parents are late.
- Prepare monthly schedule.
- Be able to substitute for other Aftercare aides.

- Lift 20 lbs. occasionally and 10 lbs. frequently
- Sit frequently and stand and walk on varied surfaces
- Bend, stoop, crouch, push, pull, climb, balance, kneel, crawl
- Use hands/arms to reach in any direction and seize, grasp, hold, and turn objects using hand(s).
- Use fingers, versus the whole hand, to pick, pinch, and feel objects.
- See, talk, and hear to communicate with others in person, electronically, by phone, or by radio. Visual functions include the ability to identify and distinguish colors and bring an object into sharp focus.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Work well with children.
- Ability to hold children to a high standard and enforce it when necessary.
- Effective verbal communication with students and parents.
- Understanding of The Geneva School’s behavior standards and ability to explain the heart of the matter.
- Be able to be outside during hot/humid weather.
Credentials and Experience:
- The Aftercare aide must have experience in working with children and dealing with conflict.
- Need to be CPR and First Aid Certified (training provided).
Other Characteristics:
- Ascribes to and agrees with The Geneva School’s Statement of Faith without exception.
- Is theologically reformational in worldview.
- Has a strong knowledge of The Geneva School culture, history, policies, and educational philosophy
