Grammar School Teacher

Ordo Amoris Classical Academy

545 South Mobile Street, Fairhope, Alabama 36532

Position Description

Ordo Amoris Classical Academy is a young and vibrant classical Christian school located in beautiful Fairhope, Alabama, along the eastern shore of Mobile Bay. Founded in 2023, Ordo Amoris began with a small group of families united by a shared desire: to provide a distinctly classical Christian education rooted in historic Christian orthodoxy and a deep partnership between school and home. In just a few short years, the academy has grown steadily, building a close-knit community marked by warmth, conviction, and a shared commitment to forming students who love what is true, good, and beautiful.

Our mission is to assist Christian parents in equipping their children to love learning, pursue virtue in all of life, and glorify God in their calling through a distinctly classical K–12 education. The name Ordo Amoris, drawn from Augustine’s City of God, refers to the “rightly ordered loves.” This vision shapes every aspect of our school life. Teaching at Ordo Amoris is not merely academic instruction—it is discipleship. We seek educators who understand that education is fundamentally about shaping affections as well as intellect.

As a growing startup academy, teachers at Ordo Amoris serve in dynamic and meaningful ways. Faculty members often teach across disciplines and grade levels, embracing the richness of classical integration. A teacher may guide grammar students in Latin declensions, lead upper school Socratic discussions in great books, or mentor students in rhetoric and composition. Flexibility, intellectual curiosity, and a genuine love for learning are essential traits in our faculty.

Character formation stands at the heart of our work. Teachers model Christian virtue in word and deed, intentionally cultivating habits of diligence, humility, courage, and charity in their students. Discipline is restorative and relational, aimed at shepherding hearts rather than simply correcting behavior. Faculty pray with and for students, walking alongside families in the spiritual formation of their children.

Because of our intentionally small class sizes, teachers truly know their students. Relationships are central to our community. Parents are not clients—they are partners. Communication is frequent and personal, and narrative feedback allows teachers to speak thoughtfully into each child’s growth. Our school culture is marked by fellowship, shared meals, feast days, academic celebrations, service opportunities, and joyful gatherings that reflect the beauty of Christian community.

As a third-year academy still building foundational systems and traditions, Ordo Amoris offers a rare opportunity: the chance to help shape a school culture from the ground up. Faculty members are not simply employees—they are co-laborers in a mission-driven community. We are laying bricks that, Lord willing, will serve generations of families in Fairhope and along the Gulf Coast.

The ideal candidate demonstrates a vibrant Christian faith, alignment with our doctrinal commitments, and a deep appreciation for classical Christian education. A bachelor’s degree is required; classical experience is preferred but not mandatory for those eager to learn.
