Position Description
Responsibilities
- Instruct in logic and rhetoric courses, using syllogisms, fallacies analysis, speech writing, and debates.
- Link logical principles to Scripture, promoting discernment and gracious contention.
- Create engaging lesson plans with exercises, mock debates, and orations per SCA standards.
- Gauge student skills through arguments, speeches, and logical proofs.
- Foster rhetoric-stage development, integrating with other subjects like theology or history.
- Partner with faculty on senior theses, mock trials, and rhetorical events.
Join in staff training and school initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy, Communications, or related (Master’s preferred).
- Experience teaching logic/rhetoric in upper school, preferably classical Christian.
- Robust faith in Jesus Christ and endorsement of SCA’s Statement of Faith.
- Knowledge of classical trivium, focusing on logic and rhetoric.
- Willingess to obtain ACCS teacher certification.
- Proficient in debate and critical thinking.
Preferred Additional Strengths
- Background in Aristotelian or medieval logic/rhetoric.
Experience coaching debate teams or public speaking.
Ability to incorporate apologetics into rhetoric instruction.
