Position Description

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Provide vision, leadership and oversight of all upper school personnel
  • Supervise and evaluate all School personnel and make annual employment recommendations to the Head of School

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Carries out the vision, mission and educational objectives of the school
  • Work closely and cooperatively with the school administration and other organizational employees and offices
  • Foster an environment and initiatives that assist students in spiritual formation and maturity
  • Manage the daily operations and functions of the school in accordance with established policies and procedures
  • Work with the Manager of School Operations to provide positive regular communication to all parents/guardians outlining key dates and events
  • Review teacher lesson plans, grades, report cards and accuracy in SIS
  • Review curriculum, make recommendations for curriculum change and maintain alignment of curriculum
  • Effectively utilize school personnel through appropriate assignments to specific positions, grades, and/or subjects
  • Prepare upper school calendar
  • Work with the Director of Admissions to conduct new student family interviews; participate in enrollment and recruitment events and campaigns
  • Prepare school student course schedule
  • Oversee and implement age-appropriate disciplinary procedures for students
  • Participate in school faculty meetings and in-service, assisting with preparation of materials
  • Attend school-sanctioned extra-curricular activities, contest, performances and programs
  • Provide oversight and guidance of field trips and other co-curricular activities and experiences
  • Integrate enrichments opportunities and experiences throughout the year
  • Review Student Handbook and provide feedback and recommended changes and updates
  • Work cohesively with administrative assistant to coordinate classroom coverage during teacher absences
  • Other related duties as assigned by the Head of School or other member of executive leadership

Academic Support Policy:

  • Works with Head of School to ensure proper documentation of student and parent concerns
  • Guides and assists teachers in effective utilization of the school information system (SIS) to enhance instruction
  • Oversees the use of BRAVE Academy SIS gradebooks, ensuring up-to-date course homepages as a communication direct link to families
  • Employs a variety of techniques, in addition to formal evaluation, to measure a teacher’s  progress
  • Ensures that report cards are an accurate reflection of BRAVE Academy’s professionalism by accurately communicating a student’s performance, ability, and character
  • Ensures the creation of weekly lesson plans by teachers are available in the SIS that synchronize with the course scope and sequence and objectives provided by the Academy
  • Follows all published Academy policies found in the Employee Handbook and Parent/Student Handbook

Additional Duties:

  • Completes additional assigned duties, including but not limited to lunch, recess, carline, and homeroom supervision
  • Participates in faculty morning prayer and devotions
  • Attends and assists in development of material for faculty meetings and in-service training
  • Contributes to all-school evening events such as Back-to-School Night, Recitation Night, and Parent-Teacher Conferences
  • Works closely with the Head of School on professional development plan

Qualifications:

  • 5 or more years experience in education, preferably classical Christian education
  • Experience in a leadership position at a school environment a plus
  • Excellent understanding of how to apply and integrate a biblical worldview across all subjects
  • Proficient understanding of the use of classical pedagogy in the classroom

Physical Requirements:

  • May be required to lift up to 15 lbs on occasion
