Job Title: Kindergarten Teacher

Position Type: Full Time

Reports to: Board, Lead Teacher

Civitas Classical Academy is a Classical Christian School Startup in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Civitas is a full time school launching Fall 2024 with grades K-6. It is an ACCS (Association of Classical Christian Schools) and SCL (Society of Classical Learning) member school. The school will be located at Immanuel Fellowship Church (6015 W H Ave, Kalamazoo, MI 49009).

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree
• Teaching experience preferred
• Familiarity or experience with the classical Christian education model preferred
• Member of a local church and able to affirm the school’s statement of faith
• Pass background check and fingerprint screening

Duties and Responsibilities

• Effectively teach assigned Kindergarten curriculum
• Grow in knowledge of, and skill in, classical Christian education
• Cultivate moral and intellectual virtue in students
• Enforce a cohesive discipline system across all grades, including the uniform and homework policies
• Model a love for what they teach
• Love students and work hard to help them grow
• Uphold the Academy’s Code of Conduct
• Attend all staff meetings
• Attend all required school events outside of school hours
• Model the Christian faith to students
• Pray with and for students
