Position Description

The head coach for the robotics team will be responsible for overseeing the development and performance of the robotics team in extracurricular learning, demonstrations, and/or competitions. The coach will work with team members as they design, build, and program robots to complete designated tasks, as well as train and mentor team members in the skills needed to succeed in robotics demonstrations and/or competitions.


  • Oversee the development of the robotics team and ensure that it operates efficiently and effectively.
  • Collaborate with team members to design, build, and program robots for demonstration and/or competition.
  • Train and mentor team members in the skills needed to succeed in robotics competitions, including programming, engineering, and teamwork.
  • Monitor team progress and provide constructive feedback to improve performance.
  • Manage team logistics, including scheduling, transportation, and equipment management.
  • Manage program budgets, equipment inventory, and other resources, ensuring that they are used effectively and efficiently.
  • Coordinate with volunteer parents to ensure support for all team members.
  • Coordinate with coaches from other schools, as needed and appropriate, to support the success of robotics teams across the competing region. This may include hosting competitions and/or supporting other schools that are hosting.
  • Communicate with families and school officials to keep them informed of team activities and progress.
  • Foster a positive team culture that values Christ-likeness, respect, and hard work.
  • If teams are hosting and/or participating in competitions, coaches will work with the league to uphold guidelines set forth for competitive robotics.


  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, and school officials.
  • Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills.
  • A passion for robotics and/or STEM education and a commitment to helping students achieve their goals.
  • Technical skills in robotics design, programming, and engineering and/or a willingness to learn.
  • Availability to work extended hours, including some weekends and evenings, to accommodate team practices and competitions.
  • Experience coaching or mentoring K-12 students in robotics, engineering, or related fields is helpful but not required.

The head coach is expected to work with one or more teams before or after school for an average of two hours per week per team (currently, CCA has three teams) over approximately 28 weeks, with the possibility of evening and/or weekend demonstrations or competitions.
