Position Description

Position Summary:

Coram Deo Academy is seeking a part-time Art and AP Art History Teacher for the Flower Mound, TX campus.  The Art and AP Art Teacher will be responsible for developing 9th-12th grade students’ interest in and the ability for creative expression in visual terms, using skills and techniques of artistic expression consistent with school guidelines, developing aesthetic understanding and appreciation, and discovering and developing talents of students in the field of art.


Class Schedule:

Monday and Wednesday 8:30a-10:00a
Friday 8:00a-3:30p

Essential Job Functions:

  • Teach art skills including drawing, painting, lettering, ceramics and art history
  • Provide instruction by which students develop aesthetic concepts and appreciations and the ability to make qualitative judgments about art
  • Demonstrate techniques in activities such as drawing and painting
  • Understand the versatility of acrylic paints: dry brushing, staining, layering, under-painting, mono-printing
  • Understand a variety of “masters” techniques
  • Apply elements of design and modern principles of art
  • Understand the fundamentals and different approaches to media media technique
  • Provide individual and small-group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students with varying artistic abilities
  • Instruct students in proper care and use of tools and equipment
  • Organize storage areas and control use of materials, equipment, and tools to prevent loss or abuse and to minimize time required for distribution and collection
  • Evaluate each student’s performance and growth in knowledge and aesthetic understanding
  • Plan and present art displays and exhibitions designed to exhibit students’ work for the school and the community
  • Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the school and/or in self-selected professional growth activities
  • Communicate with parents on student progress
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by administration

  • Demonstrate a Biblical understanding of authority
  • Demonstrate skill in training, instructing, and disciplining children focusing on the heart
  • Work to build the school community toward a love of Christ and one another
  • Commitment to Biblical peacemaking
  • Teach students in a manner consistent with Christian principles and classical philosophy and pedagogy
  • Communicate regularly with administration and parents, responding in a timely manner
  • Post assignments and grades according to school policies and practices.
  • Actively participate in faculty meetings and district meetings
  • Complete Coram Deo Academy’s Teacher Certification Program per policy and pursue additional continuing education requirements
