Position Description
We are seeking a faithful and engaging Humanities Teacher for grades 7–12 who is committed to classical Christian education and the formation of students in wisdom and virtue. This position integrates history, literature, and Bible within a Christ-centered, classical framework, guiding students to love what is true, good, and beautiful while developing strong reading, writing, and critical thinking skills.
Instruction & Curriculum:
Teach integrated humanities courses (history, literature, and bible) appropriate to middle and upper school students.
Present content through a classical pedagogy that emphasizes narration, discussion, Socratic questioning, and thoughtful writing.
Lead students in close reading of primary sources, classic texts, and the Great books, helping them engage ideas with discernment and charity.
Integrate biblical truth and Christian worldview throughout instruction, highlighting God’s providence in history and His revelation in Scripture.
Develop lesson plans and assessments aligned with ACCS standards and the school’s scope and sequence.
Classroom Culture:
Cultivate an orderly, respectful classroom environment that encourages intellectual curiosity, humility, and perseverance.
Support students in developing strong habits of study, rhetoric, and expression appropriate to their stage of learning.
Model Christian character, intellectual humility, and a love for learning.
Support the school’s mission, Statement of Faith, and philosophy of education.
Engage fully in the life of the school community, including chapels and special events.
Collaboration:
Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress, expectations, and academic growth.
Collaborate with fellow humanities teachers and faculty to ensure curricular alignment and continuity across grade levels.
Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events.
Qualifications:
A personal and active faith in Jesus Christ and agreement with the school’s Statement of Faith.
Commitment to classical Christian education and the mission of an ACCS-accredited school.
Bachelor’s degree in History, Literature, Humanities, Theology, or a related field (master’s degree preferred).
Teaching experience in middle or high school preferred.
Familiarity with classical pedagogy and ACCS standards (or willingness to be trained).
Strong writing, discussion-leading, and organizational skills.
