Grammar Teacher – 4th Grade (T/TH)

Position Description

Our Grammar School teachers provide a full day of multi-subject teaching two days a week. The other three days are taught by parent co-teachers in the home. Successful candidates will demonstrate a high level of skill in teaching and communicate that knowledge effectively. This position is ideal for retired or experienced teachers who desire to work part-time on Tuesdays/Thursdays in a Christ-centered, Classical school.

Key Responsibilities:

• Familiar with well-known Classical curricula or able to learn new curricula quickly.
• Prepare weekly assignment sheets to equip parent co-teachers to deliver instruction on homeschool days.
• Work under the guidance of the M/W Lead Teacher to deliver excellent instruction in the classroom and cultivate student learning.
• Respectfully maintain discipline and order in the classroom at all times.
• Maintain up-to-date lesson plans, learning objectives, and grade records in accordance with FA’s curriculum and guidelines.
  Regularly communicate with parents and administration, responding in a timely manner.
• Participate in FA’s required staff development days and teacher training.
• Work to foster a school community guided by a love of Christ and one another.
• Lead by example, model lifelong learning, and represent the school’s mission.
• Participate in the life of the school and special events in fellowship with co-workers and families throughout the year.

Additional Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills Required:

• A love for families and a desire to serve them through excellent work and communication.
• Strong oral and written communication and basic computer skills.
• High energy and regular initiative.
• Supervision of children by sight and sound.
• The ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) and alone.
• Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Must clear full background check.
• The applicant must be 22 years of age or older.

Educational and Experience Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree
• 1-3 years experience working in a related field is preferred.
• Experience in a Christian, Classical, and collaborative educational model is preferred but not required.
