Position Description

ATHLETICS DIRECTOR

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Mission-Driven Leadership

  • Model Christ-centered, servant leadership.
  • Lead the athletic program in a way that supports the school’s Christ-centered mission and classical Christian educational philosophy.
  • Cultivate Christian character, sportsmanship, discipline, teamwork, and stewardship.
  • Integrate Biblical worldview in athletic leadership, decision-making, and event culture.

Program Administration & Compliance

  • Collaborate with the Headmaster and Director of Finance to develop and manage the athletics budget.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of conference by-laws, and ensure compliance with school, conference, ACCS and ACSI expectations.
  • Represent the school at conference meetings.
  • Oversee scheduling, eligibility, rosters, reporting, and accreditation-aligned policies.

Coaching Leadership

  • Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate coaches.
  • Manage coaching contracts and coordinate background checks for all athletic personnel.
  • Mentor coaches in Christ-like leadership and professional excellence.

Student-Athlete Oversight

  • Oversee registration, eligibility, and rosters for all sports.
  • Coordinate athletic camps and athlete development activities.
  • Communicate with athletes and families regarding expectations, schedules, and conduct.
  • When appropriate, facilitate communication with colleges and coaches to support post-secondary opportunities.

Scheduling, Facilities & Operations

  • Coordinate schedules for all games, meets, camps, and sessions.
  • Secure and manage facility usage.
  • Oversee home game operations, including announcements, security, officials, and video needs.
  • Coordinate Homecoming and end-of-season recognition events.
  • Manage athletics website, team shops, and social media content.

PROGRAM GROWTH, FUNDRAISING & COMMUNITY IMPACT

Program Expansion

  • Build a comprehensive athletic program that increases participation, competitiveness, and regional visibility.
  • Develop long-range plans for facilities, staffing, and resource needs.

Partnership with Development & Leadership

  • Collaborate with the Headmaster and Director of Development to elevate athletics in the wider community.
  • Collaborate on messaging, events, and initiatives that position athletics as a contributor to school growth.
  • Support donor engagement through vision-casting, data, and storytelling.
  • Contribute to donor development for future athletic facilities.
  • Cultivate sponsorships for programs, equipment, and facilities.
  • Represent athletics at donor events and community gatherings to expand the school’s supporter network.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Mature Christian faith.
  • Agreement with the school’s Statement of Faith.
  • Ability to integrate Biblical principles into leadership and athletics.
  • Experience in athletic administration or coaching.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to personal and professional growth.
  • Strong capacity to support development efforts that expand athletic programs and facilities.
