Position Description

Greenleaf Friends Academy is a thriving classical Christian school in rural Idaho, 30 miles west of Boise in the scenic Treasure Valley. Founded in 1908, GFA is seeking a Director of Advancement to build upon the long and storied history of our school. The Director of Advancement will do this in primarily two ways: by building and delivering an effective marketing strategy to recruit families that are aligned to GFA’s core mission; and to foster relationships in the broader community to increase support for our school’s vital mission.

A successful Director of Advancement will be a highly relational fundraiser with the capacity to foster transformational donor relationships, plan and execute on a comprehensive advancement strategy, and serve as the community-facing first contact for GFA.

The ideal candidate would be a strong leader with a clear vision for an advancement program that supports the greater mission of our school to cultivate virtue and mature Christian character in the lives of our students. Any prospective applicant must have a strong passion for classical Christian education and should be able to articulate that passion to donors and the broader community in a way that is powerful and persuasive, using whatever tools are necessary.

Responsibilities
• Cultivate relationships with donors, foundations, and parents to advance the school’s mission
• Oversee a yearly Annual Fund campaign that encourages the school community to give and expands the network of supporters beyond the immediate school community.
• Work to connect the Head of School with key donors and facilitate meetings and relationships to strengthen engagement and financial support
• Manage donor relationships, including acknowledgment and recognition processes with follow through on donations and grants
• Create and lead the planning, promotion, and execution of fundraising events to include the annual benefit auction, the annual gala, and year end and summer giving campaigns
• Research and write grants with corporations, foundations and other grant-giving entities

Minimum Qualifications

• Strong and proven interpersonal skills, including top-tier written and oral communication skills
• Strong time management and work prioritization skills with the ability to work independently
• Strong active listening skills and the ability to develop a rapport and build relationships with a diverse group of people
• Strong follow through on commitments in a timely manner
• Proficient in applicable computer programs like Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, etc.)
• A tireless work ethic and the ability to maintain composure and professionalism in a high-energy and dynamic environment
• Bachelor’s Degree
