Position Description


CATEGORY:        Faculty/Full Time/Exempt

PURPOSE:           The Intervention Specialist will work with Jon Peterson scholarship students and JH/HS students with a Service Plan to help them ultimately be successful graduates of Toledo Christian.

SUPERVISOR:     Supervisor of Student Services


Jon Peterson Scholarship Students:

·  Facilitate IEP goals and benchmarks

·  Monitor and document student progress within the Jon Peterson online documentation system

·   Help students with any classwork in which they struggle

·    Read exams/quizzes/tests to students as needed

·     Communicate with general education teachers, Jon Peterson coordinator, and parents

·     Complete and upload quarterly progress reports into the reporting system

·     Report monthly billing to Jon Peterson coordinator

·     Provide proper documentation to school of record for IEP/ETR

·     Coordinate with outside service providers (audiologist, etc.)

·     Upload appropriate documents for provider and renewal purposes

JH/HS Students with Service Plans

·    Work 1:1 or in group with struggling students

·     Identify and assess their needs

·     Be creative and innovative with ways to help students study and complete their schoolwork

·    Reteach classroom concepts as needed

·     Motivate students

·     Check grades for missing work/poor grades

·     Communicate with teachers and parents

·     Document student progress

·     Read exams/quizzes/tests to students as needed

·     Attend MFE meetings

Other Duties

·     Write, update, and share Service Plans with teachers

·     Coordinate state tests and ACT – provide proper documentation for accommodations

·     Help elementary students as time allows

·     Use Orton Gillingham Approach in groups or 1:1


·   Agree with school’s Statement of Faith, Code of Conduct, and mission

·   Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education

·   Two years minimum of experience teaching students needing intervention

·   Excellent verbal and written communication skills

·   Ability to work as a leader and as part of a team
