Lower Grammar Teacher K-3

Position Description

Job Title: Lower Grammar School Teacher (Grades K–3)
Location: King Alfred Academy, [Paonia, CO]
Type: Part-Time/Full-Time (as needed)

Position Summary:
King Alfred Academy is seeking a warm, joyful, and grounded teacher to lead a mixed-age Lower Grammar class (Kindergarten through 3rd Grade) in our Classical Christian micro-school. The ideal candidate will love young children, possess a heart for discipleship, and demonstrate a commitment to truth, beauty, and goodness in education. This teacher will lay the essential academic and spiritual foundations for our youngest learners in a nurturing, structured, and wonder-filled environment.

Responsibilities:

Provide instruction in phonics, early reading, handwriting, history, math, Bible, and nature study
Integrate songs, chants, narration, copywork, and hands-on activities rooted in classical methodology
Cultivate habits of attention, obedience, and joyful learning
Foster a strong classroom culture rooted in Christian virtue and respect
Collaborate with other teachers and parents for curriculum planning and school events
Participate in school devotions, chapel, and community life

Qualifications:

A deep love for Christ and children
A working knowledge of or willingness to learn classical teaching methods
Experience with or openness to multi-age teaching
Strong communication and classroom management skills
Bachelor’s degree required; teaching or homeschool experience strongly preferred
Familiarity with Tapestry of Grace or a similar curriculum is a plus
