Upper Grammar/Logic Teacher 4-8

Position Description

Job Title: Upper Grammar School Teacher (Grades 4–8)
Location: King Alfred Academy, [Paonia, CO]
Type: Part-Time/Full-Time (as needed)

Position Summary:
King Alfred Academy is seeking a passionate and thoughtful Upper Grammar teacher to guide students in grades 4–8 in a rich, integrated classical curriculum. The ideal candidate will be able to spark lively discussion, promote rigorous thinking, and shepherd students as they grow in knowledge, character, and faith. This role includes instruction across core subjects with a focus on historical, biblical, and literary integration.

Responsibilities:

Teach history, literature, writing, geography, Bible, and basic science using classical methods and resources (such as Tapestry of Grace)
Lead students in discussions, narration, written expression, and projects
Encourage virtuous living, critical thinking, and a love of learning
Create lesson plans that meet students at their level while providing appropriate challenge
Assess student growth and provide regular feedback to parents
Participate in school worship, special events, and ongoing teacher training
Qualifications:

A clear commitment to the Christian faith and the classical model of education
Strong grasp of the liberal arts and a love of great books and big ideas
Ability to manage a classroom of diverse learners with grace and order
Bachelor’s degree required; teaching or homeschool experience strongly preferred
Familiarity with Tapestry of Grace or similar curriculum is a plus
