Position Description
MISSION STATEMENT:
To partner with Legacy Academy and parents in order to pursue academic excellence rooted in the truth
of God’s Word and to develop fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ.
JOB SUMMARY:
The athletics director’s purpose is to be a support to the Head of School as he accomplishes the well-being of the whole person, which includes the value of “bodily training” (1 Tim. 4:8). This includes performing duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Head of School.

QUALIFICATIONS:
B.A/B.S. degree
Be developing a living relationship with Jesus Christ at a local church and serving as a Christian role model both in and out of school
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Scheduling and organizational skills
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, parents, and school staff
Flexibility
Oral and written communication skills
Computer skills
Positive attitude
Perform all other related work delegated or required to accomplish the objectives of the total school program.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Expanding and refining athletics programs as aligned with the school’s mission
Preparing and building the School of Rhetoric athletics program (i.e. high school)
Scheduling and organizing practices in Legacy gym (or other locations)
Recruiting and coordinating parent and professional coaches and assistant coaches
Leading with Head of School the Parent athletics’ counsel
Communication with Director of Operations for game schedules
Teaching the K-7 gym class each day of the week
Coaching as needed in collaboration with Head of School
Oversee a lunch duty of three grades
TEMPORARY RESPONSIBILITIES (AS PROGRAM GROWS):
Some custodial and/or grounds keeping (e.g. spot cleaning hallways with carpet cleaner, spot cleaning
restrooms twice a week, weed whacking certain areas of the playground such as fence and rubber area, spot cleaning cob webs on side of building, etc.)
When not coaching, leading a group of about 10-12 upper grade students in Late-Shift Lyceum homework and pre-sport athletic time between 3:45 and 5:30 pm.
