Assistant Teacher (Grades 3-5)

Position Description

The ideal candidate will be familiar with Classical Christian distinctives. Applicants must
embody Christian virtue, demonstrating a personal relationship with Jesus. The candidate will be
patient and have experience assisting with teaching any age group from Kindergarten through
fifth grade. He or she will demonstrate an ability to assist the Lead Teacher by collaborating on
lesson plans, leading various parts of lessons as instructed by the Lead Teacher, assisting the Classroom Teacher in grading and lesson preparation, nurturing and training students in behavior and classroom routines, and communicating with parents as needed. This position requires an educator mature in their walk of faith who loves teaching and shepherding children. He or she will be a person who is personable, organized, and committed to providing a caring and engaging learning environment in which students’ hearts, minds, and souls are cultivated and nurtured.

● Possess a mature faith in Jesus, displayed in godly conduct and firm in personal convictions
● Establish and maintain virtuous relationships with colleagues, students, and parents
● Lead students with clear and kind authority
● Support and promote the mission and vision of Lighthouse Christian Academy
● Demonstrate pedagogical and organizational competence
● Continue learning about the Classical Christian tradition and their own field
● Collaborate with Lead Teachers to ensure a seamless learning environment for students

Education:
Two-year degree in a related field preferred, or commensurate experience

Time Required:
Full time, ten months with standard school breaks during the school year
