405 S. Main Street, Moscow, Idaho 83843

Position Description

Part-Time Rhetoric Position

New Saint Andrews College is a confessionally Reformed, Christian liberal arts college in Moscow, Idaho. We seek a new faculty appointment in Classical Rhetoric. This appointee will be responsible for a year-long rhetoric colloquium tailored to first-year undergraduates, and for other courses within the appointee’s field of expertise that align with the college’s degree program in Liberal Arts and Culture. Our rhetoric colloquium prioritizes oratory. Applicants should be able to expound rhetorical theory from foundational texts in the Greco-Roman tradition and to coach students through oral exercises in progymnasmata and declamation. This has the potential of leading to a full-time position for the 2025-2026 academic year. Terminal degree preferred; salary will depend on experience.

This part-time post begins June 2024. We require our faculty to sign the college’s Statement of Faith. Applicants shall submit (a) a letter of interest, expressing their suitability and vision for teaching Rhetoric in a confessionally Reformed, liberal arts context; (b) a CV; and (c) contact information for three references. We encourage applicants to read this paper (What is a Liberal Art?) to understand the college’s position on the liberal arts and their implications for our pedagogy.
