Head of School
Position Description:
The Head of School carries the torch for the mission and vision of the school and will be responsible for overseeing the pedagogy, facilities, and the culture of the school. They must have experience in teaching, management of personnel, basic counseling, and discipline. They will function as the lead pedagogue, implementing full academic processes to ensure excellence in education. The Head of School will also be involved in parent relationships and family counseling where necessary. They will implement the policies of the student handbook throughout the school day and will ensure that the school runs smoothly and grows through the implementation of strategic plans laid out by the Board of Directors. This position reports directly to the Board of Directors and the individual must uphold and enact the mission of the school on behalf of the Board of Directors.

Specific duties:
Some duties may be assigned to others, but ultimately are the responsibility of the Head of School.
Student Body :
-Lead in discipline throughout the day
-Counsel students with wisdom, grace and godliness
Pedagogy:
-Oversee scope and sequence as decided by the Educational Council
-Communicate K-12 school pedagogy
-Lead in education objectives and curricular choices
-Establish classical pedagogy as a member/Chair of the Education Council
-Inspect Teacher Lesson Plans on a weekly basis
Culture:
-Lead in developing the culture of the school (including special events)
-Maintain a godly environment and discipline (kindness, respect, humility, etc.)
Faculty:
-Build a faculty of teachers and employees
-Develop faculty through team building
-Correct and guide as needed
-Meet regularly with faculty
-Evaluate teachers – 2 times per school year
-Record all evaluations for administration and Concordis Education Partners – as requested
-Oversee contracts
-Updates employees’ files
Enrollment:
-Help grow the school
-Be able to respond to parent questions about Oaks Classical Academy and promote the school
-Oversees enrollment process including initial inquiries, tours, interviews, and exits
Families:
-Oversee partnership with parents
-General communication
-Offer suggested ideas or resources
-Counsel families with wisdom
-Oversee discipline hearings
Facilities:
-Oversee security and safety of building and grounds
-Oversee building use and classroom layout
-Ensure general maintenance and supplies
-Oversee cleanliness, aesthetics, and building presentation
-Liaise with Coastline Church about building needs, questions or concerns
Business:
-Oversee financial processes
-Learning Management software implementation
Meet regularly with the Board of Directors
Chapel:
-Ensure integrity of purpose for chapel time
-Ensure all content reflects the vision of the school and in terms of biblical and theological commitments
-Be able to lead chapel when needed
Events:
-Leadership/ participation in events as needed (student body events, concerts, fundraisers, etc.)
Oversee communication in the following areas:
-Facilitate meetings for all teaching staff
-Coordinate parent meetings
-Lead staff meetings for both Primary and Secondary grades
-Communicate with parents & students regarding events & calendar for K-12
-Communicate with parents & students regarding discipline for K-12
Recommended Board Reporting:
-Weekly email update for the board
-General update of what the board needs to know
Monthly Board Meeting update:
-Cultural update
-Discipline concerns
-Things going well
-Things of concern
-Family praises & concerns that you’ve encountered
-Pedagogy update
-Faculty evaluations
-Faculty concerns
-Faculty excellence
-Enrollment pipeline
-How many interested inquiries
-School tours
-Attrition concerns
-Any rejections and how it was decided
-Ideas or strategic plans presented
-Financial needs for the plan
-Faculty needs for the plan
-Facility needs for the plan
-Academic snapshot – reveal how students are doing.
