Position Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Grammar School Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will be committed to providing an excellent, classical Christian education to students in grades K-5, fostering both intellectual growth and spiritual formation. The teacher will work to instill a love of learning and guide students in developing foundational skills in language arts, mathematics, science, and history, all from a Christ-centered perspective.
Key Responsibilities:
Instruction: Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons in all core subjects (language arts, mathematics, science, history) and elective/non-core subjects (music, art, Latin/Greek, physical education) that align with the school’s classical Christian curriculum.
Utilize a variety of instructional methods, including direct instruction, Socratic discussion, and hands-on learning experiences.
Incorporate biblical truths into lessons, helping students understand and apply Christian values to their academic pursuits.
Differentiate instruction to meet the individual learning needs of students.
Classroom Management:
Maintain a well-organized, disciplined, and respectful classroom environment that promotes active learning and engagement.
Set clear expectations for student behavior, and address any issues with patience and grace, in line with the school’s code of conduct.
Collaboration:
Work closely with other teachers, administrators, and staff to implement the school’s educational mission and foster a supportive learning community.
Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events as required.
Parent Communication:
Maintain open and regular communication with parents regarding student progress, behavior, and any academic concerns.
Be available for parent-teacher conferences and other school-related meetings.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
Strong commitment to the philosophy and values of classical Christian education.
A personal commitment to the Christian faith and active participation in a Christian community.
Experience teaching elementary-aged students, preferably in a classical Christian or private school setting.
Ability to effectively communicate with students, parents, and colleagues.
Strong classroom management skills and the ability to create a nurturing, disciplined learning environment.
A love for children and a passion for teaching and discipling young students.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
Knowledge of classical education pedagogy, including the trivium (grammar, logic, rhetoric).
Familiarity with classical Christian curriculum and resources.
Ability to integrate technology in the classroom in a balanced, meaningful way.
