Part Time P.E. Teacher

Position Description

Responsibilities

• Teach Physical Education classes for Lower School (K–5) and Upper School (6–11) students, promoting fitness, motor skills, and teamwork.
• Design engaging, age-appropriate activities (e.g., relays, team sports, Gaga Ball) that align with SCA’s classical Christian curriculum and mission.
• Integrate biblical principles, emphasizing stewardship of the body and virtues like perseverance and cooperation.
• Assess student progress through participation, skill development, and sportsmanship to encourage holistic growth.
• Collaborate with faculty to support cross-disciplinary goals and participate in school events (e.g., field days, athletic activities).
• Maintain a nurturing, disciplined environment that reflects SCA’s Christ-centered values.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, or a related field.
• Experience teaching P.E. to K–11 students, ideally in a classical or Christian school setting.
• Understanding of classical pedagogy or willingness to learn and apply it.
• Deep commitment to faith in Jesus Christ and integrating biblical principles into teaching.
• Must possess or be willing to obtain ACCS teaching certification.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a heart for mentoring students and partnering with parents.

Preferred Skills

• Knowledge of developmental stages for creating age-appropriate P.E. curricula for elementary and secondary students.
• Experience leading group activities (e.g., team-building games, intramural sports) or coaching.
• Ability to teach basic health concepts alongside physical activities.
• Familiarity with organizing school-wide events, such as field days or athletic tournaments.
