Position Title: Part-Time Upper School Band Teacher/Director

Location: Broomfield, CO

Job Description: Summit Classical Academy, dedicated to classical Christian education, seeks a dynamic and musically gifted individual to serve as our Part-Time Band Teacher/Director for our Upper School students (Middle and High School). This role involves leading our band program, fostering a love for music, and integrating our Biblical worldview into the music curriculum.

Responsibilities:

  • Direct and instruct the school band, including rehearsal planning and conducting performances.
  • Develop and implement a curriculum that encompasses various musical styles, with an emphasis on classical and sacred music.
  • Prepare students for concerts, festivals, and other musical events, ensuring performances reflect our commitment to excellence and Biblical values.
  • Collaborate with faculty to integrate music into the broader educational experience.
  • Maintain and organize music resources and instruments.
  • Participate in school events when appropriate, including chapel services where music plays a role.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Music Education, Music Performance, or a related field.
  • Experience in directing a school band at the middle or high school level.
  • Proficiency in playing at least one band instrument, with the ability to teach multiple instruments.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • A commitment to faith in Jesus Christ and the integration of Biblical principles in education.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior
  • Experience with classical music and sacred music repertoires.
  • Familiarity with classical education principles and the trivium.
  • Ability to conduct small ensembles as well as full bands.

  • Passion for music education and student development in a Christian context.
  • Enthusiasm for leading young musicians in both performance and personal growth.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students of varying skill levels.
