Position Description
Secondary Latin & Humanities Teacher
Veritas Classical Academy, a JK-12 Classical, Christian School in Southern California, is hiring a full-time Latin & Humanities Teacher for the 2024-2025 school year. The vision of Veritas is to create a Christ-centered community and culture by discipling students to delight, discern, and display the glory of God in Jesus Christ in every area of culture.
Bachelor and/or graduate degrees in education and/or subject-related areas are preferred. Teaching experience in Christian/classical schools are highly desired. Must be able to teach up to AP Latin. The teacher’s specific role is to train the students with a balance between the rigor of Latin grammar and the joy of Latin culture, history, and literature. We prefer teachers who are familiar with Ecce Romani and/or Lingua Latina.
Responsibilities:
- Teach 3 Secondary Level Latins including AP Latin, and 2 secondary level humanities courses
- Foster a love for learning and critical thinking.
- Implement a classical Christian curriculum, incorporating classical literature, history, and philosophy.
- Create engaging lesson plans that align with the school’s educational philosophy.
- Foster a positive and respectful classroom environment that encourages intellectual curiosity and character development.
- Provide constructive feedback to students and actively engage in their academic progress.
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance interdisciplinary learning experiences.
- Participate in school events, extracurricular activities, and professional development opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Latin, Literature or History preferred (Master’s degree preferred).
- Prior experience (2-5 years) teaching humanities at the secondary level.
- Familiarity with classical Christian education principles.
- Member of a Reformed or Evangelical Church
- Commitment to integrating biblical worldview into the learning environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to inspire and motivate students and to shepherd their hearts
- Commitment to building a Christ-centered community and culture at Veritas

Salary: $50,000.00 – $60,000.00 per year. Depending on experience
