Lower School Teacher

Position Description

Veritas Preparatory School is an independent Classical, Christian, University Model School in the flourishing city of Greenville, SC. The vision of Veritas is to be a community growing in the love of God as courageous learners, thoughtful communicators, and gracious servants. Founded by a group of parents in 2012, Veritas currently enrolls 260 students in grades K-12. As we continue to grow as a school, we are looking for a lower school classroom teacher to be a part of our faculty.

Our faculty forms a community of learners; they strive to be models of Christian life and thought, and able mentors of both children and families. They must be committed members of a local, Bible-teaching church body and agree with our statement of faith. (Available online here: https://www.veritasgreenville.com/christian-education.) Candidates should have a degree and/or experience in the field in which they are teaching. Knowledge and experience with Classical education and University Model Schools are desirable but not required.

The teacher will :

Pursue common goals in accordance with the Veritas telos – “To be a community of students and families growing in the love of God as courageous learners, thoughtful communicators, and gracious servants.”
Provide in person instruction to a class of 8-15 students on campus on Tuesdays and Thursdays (as well as Mondays for fifth grade). School days last from 7:30-3:30.
Employ the curriculum chosen by Veritas administration
Create, adapt, and post lesson plans to be completed by families on home days (Wednesday and Friday/weekend plans)
Communicate with parents regularly
Discipline according to the school’s policies and priorities
Host parent/co-teacher conferences twice per year and as needed
Attend staff development meetings on one Friday per month
Participate in Veritas Service Days on one Wednesday each term
Maintain a clean, organized classroom environment for learning
Work closely with grade level team members
Represent the school in a professional manner
Salary is competitive, and tuition discount is offered to faculty with children. 401k contribution begins in the second year of employment. Enrollment in the school is strongly encouraged.
