Job Description – Faculty – Upper School Math & Science
Position Objective:
To instill a love for science and mathematics, an understanding of the applicable science and math content, and a love for God, in the hearts and minds of students at Westminster

Key Results Areas: A successful Upper School Math & Science Teacher:
● Creatively prepares daily lessons according to Westminster’s assigned course objectives and annual scope and sequence for the given subject
● Writes weekly lesson plans that outline lesson objective, content, student engagement strategies, and effective student assessment
● Actively engages students in daily course content instilling a love for the subject and a love for learning through a wide range of learning experiences
● Actively instructs students toward content mastery, and when content mastery is not achieved, works to help students grasp key concepts
● Monitors student progress through intentional and well thought out assignments, and tests seeking to measure mastery of learning targets
● Grades and returns student work and tests in a timely fashion
● Positively participates with Westminster faculty to promote teamwork and professional development
● Builds student relationships inside and outside of the classroom
● Actively participates in the Westminster House activities as able
● Nurtures and supports students in their growing faith, knowledge of the Bible, and relationship with Christ and others
● Keeps parents routinely informed of student progress, and when necessary, student discipline, through formal and informal communications
● Performs other related duties as assigned
Supervision:
● Science and Mathematics Faculty report directly to the Upper School Head
Classification:
● All teaching staff at Westminster are considered faculty positions (see staff manual for details) and are an exempt employee
Education and Experience:
● Bachelor’s degree in education or related field
Required skills, abilities, and physical qualifications:
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills (especially with students)
● Excellent interpersonal skills and organizational skills
● Proven ability to teach and relate well with middle school and high school students
● Bachelor’s degree required, masters preferred
● Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
