Coram Deo Academy (WA)

Coram Deo Academy offers a prescribed Tuesday-Friday K–12 course of study rather than a traditional high school model built around a broad menu of electives. The curriculum is intentionally sequenced so that each year builds upon the knowledge, skills, and habits developed in previous years. Students do work at home on Mondays. Students encounter significant works of Western literature and primary sources and are taught to read carefully, reason critically, discuss ideas through Socratic dialogue, construct arguments, and evaluate competing claims in light of Scripture. The sequence is designed to prepare students not merely to recall information, but to engage thoughtfully with the intellectual and cultural questions they will encounter in college, vocation, church, and community life. Classical Languages Classical language study is a significant component of the Academy's curriculum. Students begin Latin in Grade 3 and progress through a sustained sequence emphasizing vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar, translation, and the structure of language. Upper-school students subsequently study New Testament Greek, developing familiarity with the language of the New Testament and the tools necessary for careful textual study. The study of classical languages contributes to students' understanding of language, grammar, history, literature, and the texts of the Christian tradition. Senior Thesis The Senior Thesis serves as the capstone of a Coram Deo Academy education. Each senior researches, writes, presents, and publicly defends an original thesis. The process requires students to conduct scholarly research, construct and defend an argument, write at an advanced level, respond to questions, and communicate persuasively before an audience. Successful completion of the Senior Thesis demonstrates the integration of the Academy's goals in research, writing, reasoning, rhetoric, and biblical wisdom and serves as a culminating demonstration of college-level academic preparation. ADVANCED & DUAL-CREDIT OPPORTUNITIES CDA's academic program is primarily prescribed rather than elective. During the junior and senior years, qualified students may pursue approved academic pathways in addition to completing the Academy's distinctive classical Christian curriculum. Opportunities may include: Running Start / dual enrollment Tri-Tech Skills Center Other approved dual-credit opportunities Participation is dependent upon student qualification, scheduling, and program availability. AP & Honors AP Courses: None Honors Courses: None CDA does not offer AP or formally designated Honors courses. Instead, academic rigor is built into the Academy's classical liberal arts curriculum through sustained study of literature, history, mathematics, science, classical languages, logic, rhetoric, and theology.

Educational Philosophy Coram Deo Academy provides a distinctly Christian, classical education grounded in the person and work of Christ and the classical liberal arts tradition. The curriculum is intentionally designed to form the whole person—mind, body, and soul—through the study of Scripture, theology, literature, history, mathematics, science, classical languages, fine arts, and physical education. Instruction follows the classical progression of the Trivium: Grammar School | Grades K–5 Students build a broad foundation of knowledge through memorization, narration, imitation, recitation, and joyful wonder. Logic School | Grades 6–8 Students develop analytical reasoning, discernment, argumentation, and thoughtful discussion. Rhetoric School | Grades 9–12 Students cultivate wisdom, eloquence, mature scholarship, persuasive communication, and faithful Christian leadership. Every discipline is taught from a distinctly Christian worldview and intentionally contributes to the Academy's Portrait of a Graduate.

The Academy serves families from Kennewick, Richland, Pasco, West Richland, and surrounding communities. With a total enrollment of 81 students and typical class sizes of 12–15 students, CDA provides an intentionally small learning environment in which teachers know their students well and students receive meaningful individual attention.
