About Our School Program

Morning Star Academy is focused on the time-tested method of teaching that works "with the grain." During the grammar years (grades K-5) the emphasis is upon providing students with the facts of each subject. Grammar school visitors will hear students chanting, singing, and reciting History facts, English grammar rules, and theology. The logic school (grades 6-8) shifts the emphasis from memorization to clear thinking. Logic students are trained to stand on their own two feet intellectually. They are asked not only the "what" of their subjects, but are expected to know the "why." Thus formal logic is a center-piece of their education. As students enter the rhetoric school (grades 9-12), the emphasis shifts to expression. The curriculum requires rhetoric school students to do a significant amount of writing and speaking through class discussion. The goal is that with a strong knowledge base and the ability to think clearly, they will be able to communicate persuasively on behalf of Jesus Christ in whatever their calling.

About Our Community & Mission

Morning Star Academy believes that education, when at its best, reaches every facet of the individual: head, heart, and hands. Education targets both the cognitive (head) and the affective (heart) dimensions of a student. Furthermore, education should propel students to serve or give back to the community (hands). With this view, we provide a classical, Christian education that aims to teach truth, train disciples, and transform community.

What We Are Known For In The Community

Morningstar Academy is a well-known Christian school in the Quad Cities and one of the few classical, Christian private school options within the state of Iowa. As a result of being classically prepared our students are known for their ability to communicate clearly and persuasively.

About The Area We Serve

Morning Star Academy serves the Quad-cities consisting of Davenport and Bettendorf, Iowa and Rock Island and Moline, Illinois. What geographically separates our cities but at the same time unites our cities is the great Mississippi River. The River is the center of our history and culture. We play on the River. We sing, eat and drink -- great restaurants and open air venues -- on the River. We work on or by the River. The Quad-cities has a small city feel with all the advantages of the arts, athletics and academics -- two universities, the first and most influential chiropractic college in the world and an excellent community college system.
