About Our School Program
Being people of the Word, we place a strong emphasis on language from phonics and handwriting in the early years to outlining, writing and speaking across all subjects starting in second grade. Students regularly give speeches from their own outlines, helping them grow in confidence and clear communication. In the upper grades, students read and discuss primary sources in history, literature and Bible with weekly writing and speaking assignments that strengthen their ability to think and speak with clarity.
While we follow a classical model through the stages of the trivium, our methods are also Charlotte Mason inspired. Students participate in hands-on, practical learning activities across all subjects. Every class is taught from a biblical perspective, showing students that God’s Word is indeed profitable for teaching and equips us for every good work.
About Our Community & Mission
Each of our teachers is an active member of a Protestant congregation, and our school families attend a range of churches in Northern Virginia. Teachers, staff and parents have a shared vision of a Christ-centered education, helping parents to raise children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
It is our mission to not only help parents in Northern Virginia educate their children but to help parents stay involved in their children’s education. We have a vision to make an excellent Christian education accessible for families. One way we do this is by offering a generous family discount. Families with three or more students enrolled at the school only pay tuition for two.
What We Are Known For In The Community
We are known for our intimate and connected school community. Throughout the year, we host events like Grandparents Day with singing, recitations and a special lunch, seasonal Psalm sings and marshmallow roasts, family game nights and Christmas and Easter events with receptions for fellowship.
Our house system builds character and leadership skills as students work to plan quarterly events such as Christmas craft markets and soup nights. Each school week, a different house hosts our school cafe'. parents bake goods to sell and students serve while families enjoy the time together after school. Proceeds from these events are donated to local pregnancy centers, food banks and other ministries of our families' church congregations.
About The Area We Serve
We are located in Northern Virginia, a vibrant and fast-paced region just outside of Washington, D.C. serving families in Herndon, Reston, Great Falls, Ashburn, Leesburg and the surrounding areas. We take full advantage of the rich history, art and culture of our area by taking students on multiple field trips to national monuments, historic sites and museums each year, helping them to make connections between their studies and the world around them.
